The nuclear family has sytematically atomized what used to be the village, a communal way of raising kids to share the burden of parenting to prevent parental burnout or lower the risk of post-partum depression. Now it's every parent for themselves and most of that labor is shouldered by the mom who most of the time also has a full time job because of this tanking economy.
