today I want to know how I get one of those jobs where I just get to think deep thoughts all the time about criminality and carcerality and write them down and be a talking head bc I love my trial level litigation crim life and I love my clients but WOW I am tired.

The DA is theoretically the person in our community who determines how to fix wrongs against our community. As long as they are willing to see some people as outside our community...I am unimpressed. And tired. And very sad for all of us clinging to our fake moral high ground.

I went to this DA panel last night with the two candidates and came away tired. Everyone has these big statements about reform and making sure things are charged correctly and bond reform and blah blah blah and guys the truth of the matter is that is not that new. 🧵/

honestly even those "bad things" aren't that bad most of the time. one of the candidates said (in the context of dv) "we shouldn't prosecute victims of crimes for crimes. hurt ppl hurt ppl" i agree completely - but that means ALL victims of crimes...aka most of my clients. 7/
