@avia_chen Prevent fraud. Respond to existing chargebacks. Block bad actors. Provide great experience. Ship best products quality. It all matters to stay in business, and be profitable. If the legitimate customer is happy, you're going to win big.
@jforjacob@zarif_adel@DTCMidas@disputifier paying more often means investing in higher quality, that deliver better performance and value over time (quick analogy - iPhone vs. Galaxy).. try it out side by side, I'm sure you'll feel the difference.
@ConnerFleming13@DTCMidas First, we respect your decision to switch, although we would be happy to dive in deeper and understand how we can help improve the experience or results. On the billing side of things, you should NOT be billed for any dispute that wasn't a closed-won, pay on recovery only. DM'd
@avia_chen Copycat (noun): A person who imitates or mimics someone else’s actions, style, behavior, or work, often without originality.
The term originally came from the way cats often mimic each other’s movements..

After managing millions of chargebacks at Chargeflow, we've noticed a trend. A pattern. 20% of the customers are committing 80% of the chargebacks.
Today we're launching the first product that stops friendly fraud and digital shoplifters. We're calling it Prevent.
👇
We built our money-back guarantee to take care of customers. But some people exploit it.
They'll order every product we make, try one for a week, then return the entire order. Same person, different emails, month after month.
My CS team handles it professionally, but I can see the frustration. These aren't real customers, they're gaming our good-faith guarantee by being digital shoplifters.
This is return abuse. And it's stealing revenue from brands that actually care about their customers.
We already use @chargeflow Automation for our chargeback disputes, which has been incredible for our operations.
But these fraudsters slip through because current tools only catch stolen credit cards, not people abusing return policies.
Chargeflow Prevent changes that. It's the first solution built to stop this behavior by analyzing people, not just transactions.
Using identity data from 15,000+ merchants, it spots serial returners and flags them after they check out, before you ship anything.
It doesn't decline transactions upfront, so you keep high approval rates. It just gives you the intel to make smart decisions post-purchase.
Finally, a way to protect brands that offer good guarantees from people who abuse them.

The math on friendly fraud is brutal. A customer places a $100 order. We ship it. They receive it. Two weeks later: chargeback.
"I never received this product." But we have proof they got it. They're lying.
Now we're out the product, the revenue, AND we pay ~3% in processing fees BOTH ways, in addition to a chargeback fee. Plus the time my team spends fighting it.
One fraudulent order just cost us $20+ in real losses.
Multiply that by the serial returners and digital shoplifters we see monthly, and you're looking at thousands in pure theft.
Here's what's frustrating: we can win the chargeback dispute later with @Chargeflow, but we've already eaten the inventory loss and fees upfront.
The cash flow damage is immediate. Brands need a way to stop these digital shoplifters before shipping anything.
That's exactly what Chargeflow Prevent does.
It's the first solution built to stop friendly fraud using identity-based prevention.
By analyzing data across their network of 15,000+ merchants, it spots fraudsters who've scammed other brands and flags them after they order but before you ship.
Zero declined transactions upfront, so you keep high approval rates while protecting your margins.
Digital shoplifting stops here.

Shoplifting used to look like someone in a ski mask. Now it looks like someone on a couch saying, “I didn’t authorize this charge.”
It’s called digital shoplifting, and it’s costing merchants over $125B a year.
Most fraud tools are built to catch stolen credit cards. They miss refund abuse, return scams, and the growing wave of friendly fraud that hits hardest during Q4.
Chargeflow Prevent flips the model.
It approves every order up front to keep conversion high, then flags risky customers post-purchase based on behavior across 15,000+ stores.
No false declines.
No spreadsheets called “Problematic Customers.”
No CX rep building Stripe dispute packets at 11pm.
Goes live today, Sept 29.

Digital shoplifting and refund abuse reshape eCommerce risks while traditional tools fall short. Chargeflow Prevent shows how identity-based analysis and collective intelligence limit hidden losses and keep approval rate high.

In our NOT FINTECH INVESTMENT ADVICE series @sytaylor and I chat about fintech companies that intrigue us.
Let’s revisit @chargeflow, one of the many companies helping merchants deal with chargebacks.
WHAT WE SAID THEN:
Merchants have had a terrible time dealing with chargebacks. Chargeflow stood out to me as a relatively new, youngish company using AI and machine learning to fully automate the process of fighting chargebacks.
Their product is distinct from lots of others in this space, the majority of which are focused on PREVENTING chargebacks in the first place.
You don't see as many companies focused on knocking out the process of dealing with chargebacks, which is why Chargeflow offers a new POV on the issue.
Instead of aiming for 0 chargebacks through process or tech improvements, they see chargebacks as an ongoing issue that needs to be managed.
Chargeflow's goal isn't solely about reducing chargebacks; it's focused on relieving the manual burden on e-commerce companies. This shift in mindset marks a potential change in the industry.
Chargebacks will always be an issue: the gap between customer expectations and actual purchases will never go away.
And they may become a larger problem over time thanks to the complex rules that govern these interactions, which are getting more complex.
Over time, we might see AI systems designed to recommend tweaks to your e-commerce stack to incentivize the right behaviors (e.g., we're seeing some good win rates here, not so good there. Here are three tweaks to improve evidence or deter certain behaviors).
THAT WAS THEN, THIS IS NOW:
Since our last discussion, we've witnessed even more progress in the growing complexity and sophistication of commerce stacks. Merchants are quickly integrating new payment options to their stack – BNPL, pay-by-bank, etc. – so the challenge of managing disputes and chargebacks is growing.
In short, chargebacks are a really fascinating data science problem. I like the idea of a chargeback acting as the customer raising their hand, saying, "Something's wrong."
And then AI helps determine if the charge is worth disputing, fixing, or letting go.
To me, that's kind of the end state that we're building towards, and Chargeback represents a step in the right direction.
