Shri Atul Moreshwar Save Ji @save_atul , Hon'ble Minister of Dairy Development and Renewable Energy, Government of Maharashtra, inaugurated the Mahanand Signature Milk Parlour and the Cap Applicator for one-litre Tetra Brik Aseptic UHT milk packs at Mahanand Dairy @MahanandIndia, Goregaon, Mumbai. These initiatives mark an important step towards modernising Mahanand's retail and packaging infrastructure and enhancing consumer convenience. The inauguration took place in august presence of Dr. V Sridhar, ED, NDDB, Shri Prashant Mohod, Commissioner, Dairy Development, Govt of Maharashtra, Shri Anil Hatekar, MD, Mahanand Dairy & Dr Pradnya Tayade, Joint Registrar, Cooperative Societies (Dairy), Maharashtra. The Signature Milk Parlour has been developed under NDDB's 'Revitalising Producer-Owned Institutions' scheme which supports branding, retail infrastructure, marketing and other institutional improvements. Designed by professionals from the National Institute of Design, the modern outlet offers an enhanced consumer experience and forms part of Mahanand's planned expansion of its retail presence through strategically located parlours. The initiative also includes refreshed packaging, visual identity and new milk and milk product variants. The new Cap Applicator at Mahanand's Aseptic Dairy Plant enables capped packaging for one-litre Tetra Brik Aseptic UHT milk, making the packs easier to handle, pour, reseal and store. This investment will improve utilisation of existing plant capacity, support product diversification and strengthen Mahanand's ability to cater to domestic and international markets, including export opportunities. In his address, the Hon'ble Minister highlighted Mahanand's turnaround and its present growth trajectory, supported by NDDB's management intervention following discussions with the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra @CMOMaharashtra Shri Devendra Fadnavis Ji @Dev_Fadnavis and NDDB Chairman Dr. @ShahMeenesh. He emphasised the importance of dairy farming as an additional source of income for farmers and welcomed the modernisation of Mahanand's consumer-facing infrastructure. Calling for greater retail outreach, the Minister encouraged Mahanand to establish more modern milk parlours across Mumbai and beyond, particularly at prominent locations and in formats that appeal to younger consumers. He expressed confidence that these efforts would strengthen Mahanand's brand and expand the reach of its milk and dairy products. Dr. Sridhar on the occasion said that under NDDB’s management since May 2024, Mahanand is on a path of revival and transformation towards becoming a modern, competitive and farmer-centric cooperative institution. He highlighted the vision of developing Mahanand as a strong state-level cooperative umbrella brand that harnesses the collective strength of Maharashtra’s dairy cooperatives while creating greater market opportunities and value for dairy farmers.
