Pretty insane that Anthropic is wiggling its tail for the EU

Anthropic is rolling out its EU AI Act compliance globally - meaning even if you’re nowhere near Europe, your own work can still end up getting Claude’s watermark just because you used it to help translate, proofread, or polish your own words

The world has zero reason to deal with the EU’s madness. Their mess is not the world’s problem

You need to understand this: EU problems are not world problems. You can wiggle your tail around Brussels all you want, but you do not get to force their madness on the entire planet just to earn their good graces

They’re pushing this sh**t onto the whole world and they’re doing it to paying customers too with no opt-out. You pay them and still get your output branded with their EU-approved tailmark

And this is the part that’s incredibly stupid:
Billions of people do not speak English natively. Have you actually listened to people speaking English around the world?

Plenty of them know exactly what they want to say but don’t have perfect grammar, vocabulary, or sentence structure in English. So they use AI to translate, fix the grammar, and polish their own words

The idea is theirs. The intent is theirs. The argument is theirs. AI just helped them polish it

Anthropic itself admits Claude’s mark can appear even when Claude wasn’t the original author.....including when people use it to proofread or translate their own work. That means Claude takes credit for your entire work

Think about how insane that is

Your entire finished work can end up carrying Claude’s watermark even when Claude didn’t create the actual work

Imagine you spend months building an entire project on a Mac and Apple says:

“Well, you used our machine, so we’re embedding an Apple signature into the finished work.”

Apple could scream “WE’RE NOT CLAIMING OWNERSHIP” all day long

The fcking Apple mark is still sitting on your work

Imagine filming an entire movie with a Sony camera and Sony watermarking the movie “Sony-generated”

How does that sound? Someone taking credit for your entire work
Using a tool does not make the tool the creator

Now Anthropic wants to slap a Brussels watermark on it
