Ok. That’s enough. I’m beyond exhausted. I won’t remember typing this or what I retweeted. And that’s fine. It’s been a great night.
Goodnight, loves. May life surprise you in the loveliest ways. ❤
(I get weird when tired, best to leave now. Ha! 🫠🥴😵💫🤪)
Everything is booked but I have an open spot to see one more show in NYC. Might wait to see what I can get on the day. Lucky to have a best friend with the places to eat. Excited and ready. So ready.
I shiver with antici... *dramatic pause* ...pation.
Went to a dr today. He sat in a rolling chair & kept inching closer until his foot was in my personal space.
I must’ve made a face because he slowly rolled backward until he rolled into the back wall! 😐
Nice man. Fully competent, I’m sure. Also, very loud socks.
Prada Marfa. Highway 90, west of Marfa, Texas.
It is not a store. It has never sold anything. Nobody has ever bought shoes there.
Artists Elmgreen and Dragset built it in 2005 with Prada's blessing. The company sent shoes and handbags from its fall collection. Every shoe in the window is a right shoe.
Within three days, somebody broke in, took everything worth taking, and spray-painted "Dumb" and "Dum Dum" on the walls.
They restocked it, reinforced the glass, and locked the door for good. Texas later tried to have it torn down as an illegal billboard. It survived by becoming a museum with exactly one exhibit. In 2014 a man painted the whole building blue and hung Toms logos on the awnings.
The artists never wanted it maintained. The idea was to let the desert take it back, one year at a time.
Twenty-one years later it is still out there, full of shoes nobody can buy and nobody could wear as a pair anyway.
I took this at sunrise on my way out of town. Marfa had given me a ticket on that trip, for failing to come to a complete stop at a stop sign on a dirt road. I called the court and reached a judge named Cinderella, who told me if I sent $100 it would all go away and never be on my record.
I sent the $100.
This is the genius of Jan van Eyck.
The closer you look the crazier it gets.
This painting is only about 66 cm tall but he hid so many details you could stare for hours.
Almost 600 years later, you look at this painting and still wonder - how?!
