Just thought of sharing a few words that hopefully inspire someone.
I actually started football analysis late (I'm 35 and created this account & the website less than 4 years ago). I have a day job that I rely on & this is just a hobby/part-time, so I've never advertised for work. And yet I've gotten a few opportunities to work in football. And all of the paid work that I have got has been via Twitter. Whether it's publications, coaches or directors of clubs. And often it just starts with someone sending a DM complimenting a piece of work. And I know a lot of other people here who've made this their main job using the same approach or gotten picked up by big brands and clubs.
I guess what I'm trying to say is - Keep at it. We often think that our work doesn't get noticed. But it does. My advice would be to keep learning, get feedback on your work from people you admire & then keep at it to build a body of work. The next time you get just 10 likes on your viz or 20 reads on your article, don't fret. Everyone's been there. I certainly have (still happens).
But if your work has value and you're consistent, it will find like-minded people eventually. Definitely an audience. Maybe even an employer/collaborator. You never know.
Love, V.
