Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Educational and Research Institute, in association with MDNIY, organized the 42nd Countdown Day to #IDY2026 at Belur Math, West Bengal. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 500 attendees, including students, faculty members, monks, youth, and yoga enthusiasts, all of whom took part in the Common Yoga Protocol session.

A seminar on “Yoga in the Light of Ayurveda” was delivered by Dr. Piyush Kumar Dwivedi, BAMS, M.D. (Kayachikitsa), Lecturer at Rajiv Gandhi Memorial Ayurvedic College, West Bengal. He highlighted the deep connection between Yoga and Ayurveda. In his address, Revered Swami Atmapriyanandaji Maharaj emphasized that the legacy of Swami Vivekananda calls upon all to promote Yoga scientifically and to live its values of purity, truthfulness, and self-discipline in daily life.

On 29th September 2025, a guest lecture was delivered at Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut by Dr. S. Anburani on the topic “Career Opportunities and Entrepreneurship in the Field of Yoga and Naturopathy” for the final year BNYS students.

The session highlighted the diverse career pathways available for graduates in Yoga and Naturopathy, including opportunities in clinical practice, research, teaching, wellness centers, government organizations, and international platforms. the growing global recognition of natural and holistic health systems and motivated students to explore entrepreneurship avenues such as establishing yoga studios, naturopathy clinics, wellness resorts, lifestyle modification centers, and digital health platforms.

The lecture encouraged students to adopt innovation, professionalism, and dedication in their career journey while contributing to the promotion of holistic health and preventive medicine. The interactive session was well received, and students actively participated by raising questions regarding practical challenges.

Let's talk about Ayurveda and its use of injections. You see, sometimes it's tricky to take medicine orally, so injecting it directly can be really important. At first, they started making Ayurvedic injections to help with this, but then the government stepped in and said 'no more,' by changing the rules in the drug & cosmetic act.

Now, why did they do this? Well, it seems like big pharmaceutical companies in the allopathic field might have had a hand in it, and maybe there wasn't enough appreciation for Ayurveda. But here's the thing - just because ancient Ayurvedic texts don't spell out the process of giving injections, that doesn't mean it's a no-go. There are references to using needles for stitching up wounds by Sushruta and medicines like SUCHIKABHARAN RASA.

So, it's only fair to ask, doesn't Ayurveda have the right to adapt and grow?

Ayurveda's getting recognized globally for its holistic approach to health, both on a personal and societal level. It's a bit sad though, that our own knowledge and traditions aren't acknowledged by our own name. Allopathic doctors even use Ayurvedic remedies and call them 'herbal medicine.'

Understanding the Drug & Cosmetic Act of 1940 and its changes is key here. Many legal experts say it doesn't actually ban the use of Ayurvedic injections in research. And even the wise Supreme Court has stated that Ayurveda has the right to make use of modern resources.
