I. Tax Rules for Foreign Travel:
* Case Study Example (Mr. A):
* Mr. A, his wife, and children went on a foreign vacation.
* Wife booked the tour package from her own bank account, costing ₹5 lakh.
* Wife does not fall under income tax brackets.
* She still received a notice from the Income Tax Department.
* Why?
* ITR filing is mandatory if your foreign travel expenses are more than ₹2 lakh.
* Tour operators report the PAN of buyers in their statement to the I-T department.
II. Disclosing Foreign Travel Expenses in ITR:
* Spent less than or equal to ₹2 lakh on foreign travel: No disclosure is required.
* Income below taxable limit, but foreign travel spend more than ₹2 lakh: ITR filing becomes mandatory due to Seventh Proviso.
* Income above taxable limit, and foreign travel spend more than ₹2 lakh: No disclosure is required.
* Note: The Seventh Proviso can trigger mandatory ITR filing even if total income is below the basic exemption limit.
III. TCS (Tax Collected at Source) on Overseas Tour Packages (From 1 April 2025):
* Threshold: Up to ₹10 lakh
* Rate: 5%
* Threshold: For value above ₹10 lakh
* Rate: 20%
* TCS: The tax is collected by the tour operator.
IV. TCS on Card Transactions for Foreign Travel:
* Threshold: Up to ₹10 lakh
* Rate: No TCS
* Threshold: Above ₹10 lakh
* Rate: 20%
* Note: This rule does not apply to "barring education/medical expenses."
V. What if TCS is not deducted on card spend?
* Banks may not do it for credit card transactions.
* There is no need to pay TCS directly to the government.
* A penalty for non-collection will be levied on the banks.
VI. When Abroad on a Business Trip:
* Foreign income is taxed in India unless you qualify as a Non-Resident Indian (NRI).
* Is daily allowance from the employer taxable? This matter is still under dispute.
* Claim foreign tax credit in India to avoid double taxation.
* Do not engage in business abroad on a tourist visa.
* This income is taxable in India, regardless of residency status.
My card was skimmed in Bangkok. $2,000 gone.
My bank said "investigation takes 90 days, don't expect much."
Visa's global rules say I owe $0 from day one. The bank was using my money to fund their fraud investigation.
One email. Reversed in 48 hours.
Here is the sentence that ends the delay:
Dear @grok
Everyone is celebrating that E85 fuel will be 15% - 20% cheaper than E20 fuel.
If a vehicle which runs on E20 fuel gives 50 kms per litre mileage, what would be the expected mileage of E85 fuel?
Detailed answer only.

If you ask ChatGPT or Claude about an Indian stock right now, the data is usually wrong or outdated. That was one of the problems I wanted to solve.
I've been trading for close to a decade. Every day I'd have screens open in one tab, chatbots in another, NSE site for filings, Telegram groups for alerts, some dashboard for FII/DII data, and a spreadsheet tying it all together.
At some point I just started building the thing I actually wanted.
https://t.co/BuyFRjZN1n - stock research platform for Indian markets. Filing alerts hit your WhatsApp or Telegram the moment they're published, with AI summaries so you don't need to read through 40-page PDFs. Live screener with 50+ filters, earnings calendar, FII/DII flows, bulk/block deals, insider trading, & much more.
It also plugs into Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini using MCP - so your AI actually has access to real Indian market data.
Everything is free right now. Have a look and let me know what you think.

At long last, @AirIndia just completed its first widebody retrofit, and it's a night-and-day difference.
I got an early look at the new Boeing 787-8 cabins on VT-ANT.
Here's what's waiting inside 🧵

INS Dhruv 🇮🇳🔥
India is stepping into a new level of strategic capability
The first indigenously built ship dedicated to tracking nuclear missiles, equipped with advanced AESA radars capable of:
• Tracking ballistic missiles
• Monitoring satellites in real time
With this, India joins the elite club alongside the United States, France, Russia, and China
The White House saw Shehbaz's ceasefire text that says #Lebanon is part of the deal. He can't do it on his own. FT reports trump was pushing the Pakistanis to sell his ceasefire to Iran. #Iran won't buy assurances from #Pakistan (which is an American ally). That's why Ishaq Dar went to Beijing on March 31. Iranian officials say, per NYT, China pressed Tehran to accept the ceasefire (We don't know what did they offer in return). So Pakistan's job was to present the American proposal to Iran and get China to nudge Tehran to accept the deal so that trump can get out of the mess he has put himself in. Iran accepted the deal based on the 10-point proposal--which clearly says ceasefire on all fronts, control over Hormuz and it has the right to enrich. But for ceasefire to take hold in Lebanon, netanyahu should stop his killing machine. he accelerated it instead--because he, angry with the deal, saw an opportunity to torpedo it. So twelve hours later, the White House, unable to rein him in, says Lebanon is not part of the deal, throwing Shehbaz under the bus. Iran tightens the grip on Hormuz.
That's where we are standing now. There is no largescale American-Israeli attack on Iran or Iranian retaliation, but the Strait remains closed; Lebanon is being pounded; US says the 10 points it agreed to are different; Tehran says ceasefire at this point is "unreasonable" (but it hasn't quit it).
Sharing country wise details which would help you navigate the ways the processing agency pushes travelers for opting for Premium Lounge when you visit to submit your #SchengenVisa application. Small details which they mention as mandatory which are not the case. Fear is the factor they ride on and the travelers fall into it. This will be a long thread...

Thrilled to see our insights on the US Visa process in @thetribunechd today!
https://t.co/S5YMXYVHYe
We often overlook paperwork, but for the US visa, the DS-160 is the interview before the interview. I wrote this piece to demystify the process - from "justifiable travel durations" to disclosing "Socials".
Grateful for the opportunity to share this knowledge. ✈️
