Capitalism can be, and occasionally has been, mitigated by effective taxation and regulation. But there is no mitigation for patriarchy, and there is no mitigation for white-supremacist racism. Both must be smashed.
Please, let no one ever mistake me for a non-fan of Melvins's Honey Bucket. Because the truth is that in fact I'm a huge fan of Honey Bucket by Melvins. Y'know, as a musical composition and performance and all and whatnot
Too many people don't know it, but two things that we need to do to redress the climate catastrophe are to build out pervasive, widespread, available public transit 24/7, and also to build as many nuclear power plants as we can ASAP.
I have studied me some human history, so I know perfectly well that a human being can live a good life while still remaining unpopular even with their friends and family.
I don't express my persecution anxieties by comparing myself to Jesus Christ, the way John Lennon did. I find Socrates a lot more inspiring, for some reason.
.@MnDOT Commissioner Daubenberger and staff are openly opposing a highway-to-boulevard feasibility study (SF 2180 and HF 2270) through an inaccurate and inflated fiscal note.

@jholbo1 And BTW, I'm pretty sure that Paul Churchland has drawn out the most from that essay than anyone else since Quine first wrote it. His 1979 monograph is spot on.
@jholbo1 All I know for sure about Quine is that he's a weird dude, and I can tell that just by reading enough of his writing. Sure, I adored "Two Dogmas of Empiricism" just as much as you and everyone else did. Honestly, though? Dude was resting on his laurels after that one essay.
I just realized that I have a yearbook somewhere with the correct spelling. But it's 2023, I'm 57 years old, and my college yearbooks are in a box in the basement somewhere and no longer reside on the bookshelves I actually use day-to-day
One of my fellow college students at Oxy way back in the day I'd really like to get in touch with is Amy Ashe (if I'm remembering the correct spelling of her name right). She explained externalities to me, in a political context, before I had the wherewithal to get it.
Amy, I get it now, and if by some wild coincidence you're on twitter at this late date, thank you. THANK YOU. I wouldn't have understood even so late as I did had you not explained it to me before I was ready to understand.
@jholbo1@AeonSkoble My eighteenth birthday was in 1984, and I'm pretty grumpy about all the anti-communist propaganda I was soaked in back then, in early-1980s Usofia. Nozick was part of that. I wish him and his work ill.
@jholbo1@AeonSkoble Yeah, I've kind of done my time in abstract analytical philosophy (strictly amateur, you understand) and am, not exactly done with it, but worried that I won't have spent enough time as a political activist before I die, and that's probably not your problem. It's mine.
