Made a personal website (link in replies), and wanted to share a bit about why and how (tldr: I missed having a corner of the internet that actually felt like me - I built one and you should too).
Nearly everyone I know is frustrated by how drastically social media has diverged from its original intent - from a personal pocket of the internet / digitization of self (even named “MySpace”), to an algorithmic economy with clear success metrics and rigid rules. In some ways, AI has accelerated the flattening of personal content, everyone now having a readily-available guide to rewards-maxing the algorithms that dictate all activity on-platform. One can’t help but feel nostalgia for a time ignorant to the generational opportunity that is the Attention Economy - or feel bitter that no one has figured out a viable business model without it (RIP BeReal).
At the same time, AI has made it easier than ever to build. And I would love to see a renaissance of personal websites - creative digital expression without guardrails or incentives. Making this site (heavily assisted by Cursor and a variety of other tools) was soooo fun, and it’s an awesome feeling to have a medium out there that I actually feel represents me completely and authentically.
If you’re curious, feel free to poke around. And if you’ve been thinking about building your own pocket of the internet, I’m always happy to help or trade notes!
every day I continue to see heinous stuff that I cannot believe is happening so blatantly in the US and try to understand how any righteous person approaching discourse in good faith could ever justify it.

@shyankoul this is literally insane. You make something that looks like dogshit (which I will admit I was a lead co-conspirator) and try to extricate yourself from blame. History will remember you as a coward (if history remembers you at all)
The mass delusion and mental gymnastics that people have to undergo to not believe this is unsanctioned gambling is unbelievable.
I mean this sincerely, this will be disastrous for society and public health if it isn't reigned in.
The wait is over: Combos are officially live for everyone on Kalshi!
Last week alone they did over $100m in volume.
And it's compounding: our app grew 50% in November and we hit another volume record yesterday ~$340m.
In traditional financial markets, traders bundle multi-leg options instead of buying separately to get better prices. Combos offer the same price improvement.
Like with our other markets, there is no house: when you submit a Combo, traders compete in the open market to take the other side.
We keep marching.
Shams and Woj are locked in an eternal struggle — damned to continually push the never ending ball of nba news 5 minutes before teams announce it themselves up the mountain. They are much like Sisyphus in that sense
Scale-maxing is a horrible way to live. You'll end up building consumer apps that touch millions of people yet positively impact none.
You should boil your work down to whether you're moving the needle or not.
Coming home for winter break is looking at my old double layered letterman jacket from high school that has “Cap’n Koul” embroidered on the side and realizing it’d probably sell for $400 at some terrible nyc 2nd Street
@sarthakgh This is hilarious. “You were only doing this because you’re dumb so here are some links to figure things out.” Ruined every semblance of PM fit and good will they had.
At @ALevelCapital, we are more than excited to announce our investment in @buildrappore.
Rappore and its team of superstar clinicians are combatting the growing mental health problem in the US by pioneering a digital ‘one-stop’ approach to telemedicine. https://t.co/tp1oG0gLQG
@sarahelnozahy Really interesting question to think about though. Haven’t thought about it in the context of deciphering things like brain function and things that seem inherently indecipherable
@sarahelnozahy Interpretability vs explainability. Very important distinction to make in some cases, in others not so much. Focusing excessively on the former could give way to unintentional bias in models. Especially if you’re only looking at outcomes:

@impcapital An EHR that physicians actually like. Intuitive UI. Is designed with the intent of performing precision care analysis on the backend. Would drastically improve resource allocation, and more importantly, patient outcomes.
