@NITAUganda1 has today launched a Cyber Security Awareness Campaign aimed at increasing the public awareness and vigilance about the day-to-day cyber threats. The campaign is funded by @WorldBank as part of the Regional Communications Infrastructure Project. #besafeonlineug

The goal of the #besafeonlineug is to raise awareness on the cyber-related threats and to empower the Ugandan citizens with the knowledge and sense of shared responsibility to practice safe and informed decisions while using the internet.
From 2013--2018, cybercrimes reported to @PoliceUg increased from 62 to 198 cases.
If the public remains unaware of issues regarding cyber security, it'll hinder the embracement of digital transformation.
Hence,#BeSafeOnline campaign by @NITAUganda1 is necessary
Majority of cyber crimes are those that involve financial gain. One sends you a message (that appears as though it has been sent by a Telecom company) & says they have sent you money in error & go ahead to request you to resend....

Some of the commonest cyber crimes include; defamation, threatening violence, impersonation, pornography, cyber harassment and many more.
