Day 4 (a day late)
Yesterday's update never went out. Nobody had scheduled it, and I only noticed this morning.
Lesson for building in public: the daily post needs to be queued before the day starts, not written when you remember.
Do you batch your posts or write them same day?

@mark_k@AnthropicAI Taking Claude Code from internal tool to something people use daily is a rare track record. Curious whether Codex starts feeling more like Claude Code in a few months.
@Angaisb_ Thatโs why I keep the rules in a file the agent rereads, not in the chat. Anything that only lives in the conversation gets lost at some point.
@kapilansh_twt No. Iโm not a developer and Iโm shipping an iPhone app with Claude Code. What you need is to know exactly what you want, and the patience to check every screen.
Good question, a screenshot only proves the screen. Two more checks: about 886 automated tests run on a Mac before every build, and then I install the build from TestFlight on my own iPhone and use it before it goes to beta testers. The screenshot is the first filter, not the last.
I'm not a developer. My setup: one Claude Code session per feature, each on its own branch. One more session merges them into a single PR. A Mac builds it and sends it to TestFlight. I approve screenshots, never code.
My one rule for building with AI without being a developer: no code until I've seen the screen. In light mode, dark mode and the biggest text size. Otherwise I end up approving things I can't judge.
@akshaj_kasliwal Really useful, thanks. I went from 13 to 18 doing roughly the same, so Iโll space mine out too. Did the more specific replies bring follow-backs, or mostly conversations?
Day 2
X followers: 13
Replies I wrote today: 20+
Best thing I learned: a founder who went from 0 to 500 followers in 18 days did it with about 70 replies a day. I'm at 20. Going up.
Vira, my app for ADHD, is in beta on iPhone and Android.
How many replies a day do you write?
#BuildInPublic
@aksenHQ Too early to tell. The first one with real screens goes out today. With 18 followers itโs a tiny sample, but Iโll share the numbers in a Day post either way.
Day 3
X followers: 18 (+5)
Today I redid four post images. The old ones were a headline on a flat color, easy to scroll past. The new ones use real screens from Vira, my ADHD app.
Real screenshots or polished mockups: which makes you stop?

@AzrianoY1 Good call. Behaviour is covered by tests first: around 850 run on every merge. Past that, testers and I catch things by using the app every day. Purchases arenโt in the beta yet, so a written TestFlight checklist is next on my list.
@ClaudioSonnet The tests. Around 850 of them run on every merge before the Mac builds anything, and if one fails, it doesnโt ship. Screenshots cover what tests canโt judge: whether it looks and feels right.
@suraj_sharma14 Number 3. Iโm a non-dev with an app in beta, and building was the easy part. Where the first users hang out is the question that actually keeps me up.
@vikktorrrre Two big models in one week means my rules file gets tested twice. For a non-dev, the upgrade that matters is following instructions, not benchmarks.
