I sat down recently with @NEWS9’s Haley Hetrick to give a preview of the upcoming Legislative Session that begins on Monday. Check it out, here:

The #okleg Senate has launched its own "budget portal," and it's laid out differently than the House portal.
Time to vote on whose is better!

I’m honored to receive the 2024 Commitment of Excellence in Public Service award from the Oklahoma Intercollegiate Legislature (OIL) Foundation.
OIL is wonderful collegiate program created in 1969 that offers students an opportunity to participate in a student-run mock government that replicates all three branches of the state government of Oklahoma. I was honored to participate in it nearly 20 years ago.
Throughout my time in public service, I’ve drawn upon the lessons I learned in OIL. It was here where I learned to debate with clarity, to think with integrity, and to forge relationships and yes, even friendships, with people who may passionately disagree with you on policy, who may be of a different political party or supported a different presidential candidate than you.
I’m proud of the 150+ students who gathered in OKC this week to learn about state government and hope that they take away from the experience the importance of civic and civil engagement.
And I’m grateful for many of my longtime friends from OIL who celebrated with me at this special gathering.

US Rep. Tom Cole named House Appropriations chairman
WASHINGTON — Republican Rep. Tom Cole was named chairman of the powerful House Appropriations Committee — and the first Oklahoman to ever serve in the post — on Wednesday.

Today, the #okleg Senate Appropriations & Budget Committee unanimously approved turning a spreadsheet into a non-binding resolution showing their #FY25 negotiation priorities.
The House's A&B chairman, however, remains irked by delayed negotiations. https://t.co/UJ9vcdW1FY
Here's what I've gathered on the #okleg budget negotiation situation as of now. It includes general components of the Senate's "position" and feedback from the House A&B chairman, who wouldn't discuss rumors that the House may release its own spreadsheet. https://t.co/kMPlKAzHWN
But this is an appropriate time to recognize the House and Senate staffers who have spent the last several months, perhaps longer, drafting all these bills. Thanks for all your hard work!
On Wednesday, Senate Pro Tem Greg Treat, R-Oklahoma City, called on Governor Kevin Stitt to appear before the Senate Appropriations Committee to explain his goal with his recent special session call.

I acted immediately upon being informed I was acting governor today and signed the emergency declaration for eastern Oklahoma. Oklahomans are struggling and we must do everything we can to help them. More on the executive order, here: https://t.co/aMaidmmKE7

If previous years were a model, lawmakers would complete their work on the budget and other policy bills by May 19 but not adjourn sine die. That would force Gov. Kevin Stitt to act on the bills they send him the following week and give them a chance to override any vetoes.
