Speaking of Aviation in Conservation, today our aerial teams once again played a crucial role in wildlife protection!
A female rhino suffering from septic wounds was attended to with the help of KWS Airwing, the Rhino Unit, Vet teams, and our dedicated partners @SheldrickTrust.
Led by Dr. Rono, the Vet Unit successfully darted, immobilized, and treated her wounds, ensuring she received the critical care needed for recovery.

Veterinary medicines are regulated by VMD, after a series of court sessions to branch off from PPB. The justification is simple, most veterinary medicines are different from those used by humans as the epidemiology is different (unless you want to tell me that humans suffer from babesiosis, ECF, MCF, CCPP or even rinderpest, among a myriad of other infections) most veterinary drugs such as narcotics used in wildlife immobilization need professional handling and regulation and vets have been doing exactly that. It is only veterinarians who can regulate veterinary medicines. We don’t need external help from pharmacists who have proven very unreliable in regulating human medicines and are key drivers of AMR
