I’ve just recorded Rachmaninov’s Sonata with @PosterTom live from the home of Bob and Elisabeth Boas for @absoluteclass this Sunday at 6pm. It’s a work we first played just over half our lifetime ago! Such a pleasure to be back in this special place playing for Bob and Elisabeth
We will be sorry to say goodbye to Ruth who has been such a huge support and great organiser of our festival over the past 4 years. Do help spread the word for this new position leading towards our 10th anniversary!
2/2 I also remember hearing @ShekuKM play for the first time when you were around 8 years old - I had to pick my jaw up from the floor! You’re inspiring so many young (and older..!) musicians now and it’s a joy to see and hear. Here’s some of our Barrière https://t.co/WGgGf5BJEz
1/2 My father just sent me this clip @BBCFOUR @bbcproms. Thank you @ShekuKM! I remember this concert well. The conductor said to me just before we went on, “Leave the fast notes to the violin.. Sing!!” It means so much to me that you remember this performance @RoyalNottingham
Over the moon to have now performed all the Bach Suites. Will always remember my first V and VI @mapperton this evening. Thank you to the Sandwich family for making it possible. It’s been quite a journey!
..and if you wish to hear a classic page turning moment, listen between the theme and 1st variation of the Martinu.. I had the music set on the wrong page, and in an effort to get to the right place, the music fell off the stand etc..!!! Oh we’ve got some stories @PosterTom!
Happy to say my recording of Howells Concerto, recently completed by @jonathanclinch with @BrittenSinfonia on @ChoirOfKingsCam label, has been released today. Thank u @StevenIsserlis for passing it onto me and for the loan of your wonderful Montagnana!
Loved playing with the absolutely incredible @aronowitz7 earlier this week in this lovely space for @LeamingtonMusic. Just such a treat to sit in the middle of this amazing group! Tonight some gorgeous Schubert quintet for @JerseyMusicFest. Can’t wait! 🎻
After 19 years of playing together, @cellojohnston and I FINALLY got round to recording an album together - and it's out today! Visit the @OrchidClassics website to find out more, order the disc and read our interview about camels and performing nude: https://t.co/i73eIJnQh5
20 lucky years of playing with Pteromost (@PosterTom!). We thought we should celebrate with this upcoming recording @OrchidClassics including works we have performed since we were teenagers.
Former chorister @cellojohnston recording today in the Chapel with @BrittenSinfonia for the @Kings_College record label. Sounding fantastic!
Howells’ completed cello concerto will be released a little later this year.
Here’s a time lapse of the 4th of 6 sessions with June Mendoza. Such a lovely lady with so much experience. I agreed to pose on the condition I could play some Bach (and Howells, which I’m recording next week) during the process..
I’ve had it pointed out to me that this fine album, with its gorgeous Handmaid’s Tale cover, can solve literally every difficult Christmas present problem. If I still had a stocking, I’d want to find this in it.
This week's playlist is now live, and now we're officially allowed to play Christmas music, we've gone ham. To balance out the yuletide cheer, there's also our favourite new releases from @cellojohnston and @BBCPhilharmonic, @SFSymphony and @solgabetta. https://t.co/D2GTZHHEzq
Thank you @cellojohnston for a wonderful afternoon exploring Britten's Sonata in C for #workoftheweek. Find out how the work came about, Britten's inspiring friendship with cellist Mstislav Rostropovich and some beautifully played excerpts by Guy: https://t.co/FulBXAx6yh
The summation of Martinu’s first cello concerto in rehearsal with @GarryWalker74 and the Staatsorchester Rheinische Philharmonie, Koblenz (where the Rhine and Mosel rivers meet)
