Obama is kind of like Marcus Aurelius. Capably managing the empire during the waning days of the Pax Americana before handing it off to a lunatic dipshit who ruined everything.
Okay so 2004 was my first election as an adult and it was infuriating, but I did get over it. I think it helped that the liberals were united.
The election that really fucked me up was 2024. Like I know 2000 and 2016 were more important and had far more monumental ratfucking from the far left, but 2024 was completely idiotic.
High profile liberals backstabbed the sitting President, lefties were babbling something about Gaza, the media was constantly shitting the bed about unimportant nonsense like the price of eggs, Gen Z momentarily thought Trump was nifty, Latinos thought they'd vote for their own deportation, and everyone that cared about Project 2025 or January 6th was viewed as insane.
I lost faith in Americans in 2024. I don't think I'll ever really get it back. What happened was just too stupid to ever get over.
@BigDingus_72 A contract sets the rules of the relationship, it may not necessarily determine who is right under every set of facts regarding the relationship thereafter. This is what contract law is literally for!
I can't recall a year that Dems haven't done exactly this. Rural America will moderate when they give up on the culture war & accept a multi-ethnic America.
We have not seen a caravan headed to the U.S. southern border in several years, why now?
Oh yeah, there is an election coming and the GOP needs to scare you into voting because nothing else is working.
We're really deep into the banana republic zone here, Trump has hundreds of billions of dollars in superpac money to spend but he's still stealing your tax dollars to run extra campaign ads.
FOX: You say you're a capitalist, what do you mean?
El-Sayed: Capitalism is the process by which we enable supply and demand to allocate capital so that it's the most productive in an economy. We are not in a situation where we have capitalism, we have corporatism.
I think a lot of American politics is explained by like 60% of the population never having considered that water could stop coming out of the tap one day
@HQNewsNow The way he never gives a full smile with Trump, but just a slight polite smile when he’s complimented, shows why he’s so good. He has to work with him, he doesn’t have to help his optics
The bedrock of the American economy are the middle aged guys sitting in the airport lounge wearing corporate branded polos for companies no human has ever heard of
🚨 At the U20 Mayors Summit, Mamdani Says the Left Has Ceded “Quality of Life,” “Efficiency,” and “Fraud and Waste” to the Right
This was one of the more interesting arguments Zohran Mamdani made today at the U20 Mayors Summit, and a reminder that he can be genuinely sharp when he drops the “central casting” routine.
“In New York City, there are certain words that have taken on ideological associations.”
“Quality of life has come to be seen as somehow a right-wing concern. Efficiency… has been taken on as a right-wing concern, rooting out fraud and waste, a right-wing concern.”
Mamdani’s argument is that refusing to engage those issues actually helps the Right.
“If you are staring at an example of social disorder or social inefficiency, and the left refuses to explain either why it has happened or how they will fix it, then the right gets to point at someone in the immediate area and say, ‘That’s who did it.’”
The harder question is how much of the broader Left is actually prepared to follow the advice.
