@carlwheless IN has always maintained at least 2-3 ships in the gulf area since 2019 as part of anti piracy operations.
So it’s nothing new.and yes, they are pretty well armed.
@danbilzerian_88@Screwdrivergiri@alpha_defense Most probably not. But then zorawar is designed for high altitude areas so we can permanently station them in high altitudes. C390 capacity is around 26T which is cutting it very very thin for zorawar.
@IXGguy Decommission Netra 1 and move everything to 330 based Netra mk2. Or we can potentially buy 737 next gen aircraft n harden it. That would be even better given they share commonality with navy’s Poseidon P8
@IXGguy Plenty of airforces fly them. We should just buy off. Get 6 more. Writeoff the horrible IL76, and plus some. Covers our strategic needs.
For tactical, augment c130 at the middle and c295 at the lower end of spectrum.
Buy 10 A330s , harden them in IAI and use as awacs/refullers
@danbilzerian_88@Screwdrivergiri@alpha_defense Everything is a trade off. We don’t have money to buy A400M in large numbers. C390 means a totally new setup from scratch, training and spares. Having more c130j means we don’t spend extra on training maintenance setup etc.
@raoabhijeet It needs to stream World Cup matches, should be able to fly autonomously, should be bulletproof proof, should have missiles guns bombs lasers , should have ski landing plus wheels plus parachutes plus rocket engines etc etc
@Screwdrivergiri@alpha_defense A400M is almost in heavy strategic lifter class. We should just cut to the chase and go for adding to c130J. We are already flying it, we know the maintenance we have the ecosystem. For strategic airlift we have the globemaster, we should buy some more as second hand
From cheap drones to ‘dead hand’ protocol to the largest stealth aircraft package in recent memory—My 13 military/warfare takeaways from the war on Iran so far:
@CivilLearning1 These are irrelevant. Any good bunker buster will drill through it. Didn’t you see Iran?
We don’t want to hear bitter truths but our defence planners are still sitting in the age of Second World War…
FLASH: The Indian National Congress refutes White House statement that three American F 15s have been brought down over Kuwait, insists they were Rafale fighter jets belonging to India.
@manojzxc And the tooling production line will need to be rebuilt, again ! Because the production methods will be different. We could have easily done iterative production, improve each batch feature by feature to reduce per unit cost and increase production velocity. But No.
@manojzxc Only very few nations have vls on ssk. Ssk are anti ship/anti sub. Land attack is not their role.
And as I mentioned we can always retrofit first gen scorpenes while the second batch comes on. We have the build line and know how ready
This is the problem- unnecessary requirements
@parryie@KSingh_1469 We are using junks. Ukraine war has proven that. Forget T90, we are using T72 and upgrading them. BMP2? Seriously?
All because our armed forces want perfect things. So perfect, nobody has managed to build it !
