The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided to award the 2024 #NobelPeacePrize to the Japanese organisation Nihon Hidankyo. This grassroots movement of atomic bomb survivors from Hiroshima and Nagasaki, also known as Hibakusha, is receiving the peace prize for its efforts to achieve a world free of nuclear weapons and for demonstrating through witness testimony that nuclear weapons must never be used again.

The shameless Entod Pharmaceuticals thought that by tagging the Prime Minister of India on their medical product's post would mask their intention of misleading 100s of 1000s of people.
Entod Pharmaceuticals made a post that proclaimed that their Indian innovation (Make in India sentiments) called PresVu eye drops would "eliminate" the need for reading glasses.
Firstly, this is not their proprietary product or an Indian innovation. PresVu contains 1.25% of a drug called pilocarpine. Pilocarpine is a drug which helps improve near vision temporarily and is used in people suffering from presbyopia - a refractive error that makes it hard for middle-aged and older adults to see things up close.
The US FDA had already approved conditional use of pilocarpine for presbyopia in adults in 2021 (Abbvie Pharma - Vuity) and 2023 (Orasis Pharma - Qlosi). You should see how those two companies marketed their respective products - by specifying the indication, clearly mentioning the benefits and adverse events and did not make any wild claims at all.

Now see what this shady Indian Pharma company did. First, they tagged the major political figure of the country, put out a brand logo which features a lotus flower (same content as the ruling party's political logo) and then made a wild claim about people "not" needing reading glasses anymore.
And when they were criticized by the Ophthalmology community in India - most criticisms arising from South-India (mostly initiated by Tamil Nadu IMA and fully taken up by @drbabukv) - they were held accountable by the Drugs Controller General of India (DGCI).
The company silently deleted their post. The DGCI started an investigation into Entod Pharma and the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization suspended their permission to market the product till further order.
As far as shamelesness goes, Entod Pharma started blaming the Indian Media. The company mentioned that the opinions and claims printed in news stories did not represent Entod Pharmaceuticals and they blamed the Indian media for blowing up their claim "out of proportion" when in fact, the media, as always, without fact-checking, only reported exactly what the company had themselves claimed in their now deleted post.
By the way, this is the same pharma company that promoted "saffron for eye health" and various other eye diseases through similar misleading ads on their useless saffron product which has absolutely no clinical evidence for benefits in any eye condition.
Healthcare regulation in India is a serious joke.
