France is making food labels tell the whole story. Consumers deserve to know exactly what they're buying. Starting this summer. What's stopping us? @foodpharmer2#FoodSafety@fssaiindia
Heavy traffic congestion and confrontations between commuters and district authorities were reported in Shillong's Polo area on Thursday after police restricted vehicular movement ahead of Union Home Minister Amit Shah's visit.
Police stopped vehicles travelling from the Lawmali area towards Polo from around 10:30 am, leading to long queues and significant traffic delays. The restrictions were part of security arrangements for Shah's visit to Shillong, where he chaired the 73rd Plenary meeting of the North Eastern Council at the State Convention Centre.
Several motorists, including two-wheeler riders, got out of their vehicles and argued with magistrates deployed at the site in the presence of police personnel. Continuous honking was heard across the area as commuters expressed dissatisfaction over the restrictions.

I didn’t even know what to say . This was a stranger I had never met, someone I only sold a laptop to.
We exchanged a few emails after that. Nothing deep, just occasional updates about life and how things were going.
Then one day, the messages stopped. Months later, I got another email from a different address.
It was him again. He said he had gotten a new job, moved cities, and was doing much better.
Attached was a photo of my old letter printed and framed on his desk. He said it reminded him that even when things feel finished, they are not always final.
I sold a laptop expecting nothing to come from it after the money. But somehow, a file I thought was gone ended up reaching someone at exactly the right moment…The Universe has a way of making things better 😊
reading posts here about people cringing at Indians dancing and generally having a good time while travelling abroad makes me wonder: who is the cringe really about? The people having fun, or the people signalling that their sensibilities are somehow more refined?
I can understand the embarrassment, but this isn't uniquely Indian. When I lived in Singapore, tourists from mainland China often drew similar complaints. ok, no dancing perhaps, but loud conversations, littering, and genrally boisterous behaviour were common enough.
Every society, and every class, expresses themselves differently. If a certain style of behaviour isn't for you, just look away. I don't watch many television programmes because they're not made for my demographic. That doesn't make them wrong in any way..
And if you're worried that foreigners will see a few badly behaved Indians and assume ALL Indians are like that, ask yourself : how many times have we seen individual Americans, (one in particular) behave badly? Did that change our view of their entire nation? Haven’t we seen the opposite of that as well? And if someone's view of Indians does indeed change, I'm not sure they are the kind of people whose opinion I would value in any case.
Also, if you happen to possess what you consider refined tastes, it is worth remembering that these things are often quite recent acquisitions. Statistically speaking, there is a good chance that your parents, or grandparents expressed themselves in very similar ways! so maybe calm down a bit?
@AmazingAquaa What about the green cover and the gardens? And the monuments? Sense of history going back hundreds of years? The museums and the sheer number of cultural centers and art galleries?
@Aunindyo2023 This reminds me of the “pee boys” of Bangkok, who used to carry small buckets for traffic-stranded car passengers caught in endless jams. Poor chaps were put out of business once Bangkok built its elevated corridors

In Vinnytsia, Ukraine, a female stork was widowed when her mate died. She is incubating her eggs and is unable to feed herself.
Local residents have started feeding her.

There is something deeply impressive about how India handles logistics at scale.
I recently renewed my Indian passport and along with it my German residence permit which is tied to my passport.
It took me 30 days to get an appointment at the Indian Embassy. Once I got the appointment and submitted my documents in Berlin it took around 6 weeks to get back a new passport
This involved coordinating with the passport office in Kolkata and the local police- the police had to physically verify the address of my permanent residence in Kolkata. Also, passports are not printed at the Embassy. They are printed in India and then flown to embassies around the world. This entire international affair with cross border movement of physical documents was done in 6 weeks.
In contrast, it took me 6 weeks to just get an appointment at the Foreigner’s office (Ausländerbehorde) in Berlin. And just the printing of the new card will take around 8 weeks, all of which will be done within the city.
I know a lot of stuff doesn’t work, but sometimes I cannot help but be amazed at how vast and sprawling our democracy, both literally and metaphorically, is and it is somehow still not falling apart.
