This is distasteful.
It is unfortunate to see Rahul Gandhi endorse and encourage such conduct on a public stage. Completely unbecoming and disgraceful.
Bird feeding, distributing yellow rice at khankas is as old a tradition as places itself. Erasing it in name of cleanliness is another attempt at reversing Kashmir’s centuries old cultural practices. Feeding birds is seen as act to evoke Almighty's mercy. It's a matter of faith.
Heartfelt greetings to our Kashmiri Pandit brethren on the auspicious occasion of Mela Kheer Bhawani. May this sacred festival continue to strengthen our shared cultural heritage and bonds of brotherhood.
Reliving history. A trip down the history lane.
As a son in 1989, I made the customary graduation day walk on the stage and my father watched. And in 2026 my son Mohammed Emad Gani Lone made the customary graduation day walk on the stage and I watched. Last year my other son Mohammed Adnan Gani Lone made the same walk.
As we grow older, we reminisce and romanticise those younger days of youth. And as we raise our sons and daughters we realise the sacrifices that our fathers and mothers rendered while raising us. We become true sons and daughters, when we become parents.
Today as Emad walked on the stage, I felt it was me walking on the stage. And I was searching for my father, in the crowds. I could not find him. And I had to be content being a father.
And then it dawned on me. Fathers may die but fatherhood never dies. Fatherhood is a rare constant across generations. And that defines the circularness of life
Congratulations to Jean Drèze on being honoured with the Global Inequality Research Award.
At a time when many study poverty from a distance, Jean Drèze chose to walk alongside those who live it every day. His work transformed research into action, helping shape landmark rights-based legislations such as NREGA and the National Food Security Act, policies that brought dignity, livelihood, and food security to millions.
What makes this recognition remarkable is not merely the scholarship behind it, but the humanity that guided it. He reminds us that the true purpose of knowledge is not to decorate institutions, but to improve lives.
A well-deserved honour for a life devoted not just to understanding inequality, but to confronting it. Awards often celebrate achievement. This one celebrates conscience. Jean Drèze showed that intellect is at its most powerful when it stands with those whom society too often leaves behind.
Shaheed Abdul Gani Lone Sahab was not merely a politician, but an astute statesman. He championed the aspirations of his people and sought rapprochement and peace in J&K. Refusing to compromise his convictions, he ultimately laid down his life for the ideals he believed in.
🚨BREAKING: For the first time, the original Pakistani cypher — cable I-0678, the document that triggered the removal of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan — is being released in full by Drop Site.
It is one year since the dastardly act of terror was committed in Pahalgam. The scars will always remain. How innocent blood was spilled.
Let us hope and strive for a peaceful J and K. Let us hope the scourge of terror is eradicated from our lands for all times to come.
My humble homage, to those who were martyred.
