@trayykayy13@WeAreJoel@DaSonixFan97 Here’s the actual post from Matt Piscatella’s account on bluesky. I mean, someone posts something and you just believe, right? He also has his opinion on what the data says, but it’s clear. Physical has actually grown despite a growing push to digital

Did I stutter?
I'm not buying that Corpo Slop, GTA 6.
It was the $100 all digital kill shot for physical games and I'm not taking part in it's success.
Unlike others, I practice what I preach.
Integrity first, always.
I don't care what platform it's on, it's a NO BUY for me. You will never see me play it and you can bookmark me on that. Even if the stars align and a disc version comes out, it can kiss my ass at this point.
I can't control others, but I can control my wallet. I win when they don't get my money. I won.
NO DISC 💿 NO BUY
Let me get this straight:
Every third-party Switch 2 port that runs at 30 FPS gets called “unplayable.”
But GTA 6 runs at 30 FPS on the regular PS5, and suddenly 30 FPS is perfectly fine and acceptable?
The gaming community really is full of idiots and double standards.
@THR James Gunn is also one of the worst directors. Guillermo del toro is a good choice, but Gunn is awful. I hope yall have plenty of your favorites stored away because anime looks to be going to the dogs
@DaSonixFan97 I’m glad I have other hobbies because the gaming sheep today have ruined gaming. These corporations are ruthless, saving and making money by eliminating a major item from their expenses yet still raising prices. We get no game booklets no artbooks, nothing, not even price drop
@Rufus2k2 He turned off comments because he got ratioed. Who cares what anyone can afford when we know companies are saving millions and eventually billions going digital. Where’s the savings for the consumer. These guys are plain morons
@SomosKudasai El anime es japonés, hecho por japoneses, de ideas japonesas y estilo japonés, nadie de occidente tiene ninguna credencial no legitimidad para decidir su futuro.
@BringBackBanjoK This is unbelievable behavior. A game locked behind $100 price and can’t even give you a free preview. I’m sorry you’re missing pertinent brain cells

Gamers, in light of the recent Microsoft announcement, it seems a lot of people are confused about this whole ownership situation.
And it can be confusing because the lines can be blurred. Conveniently, that confusion benefits them.
So let's talk about it for a second.
When we fight for 'ownership,' we aren't fighting for the piece of plastic. We're fighting for the right to own the copy of the game we buy.
That copy can be physical or digital.
When you buy a game on disc, you should own that copy of the game.
That's literally basic ownership and common sense.
You can lend that copy to a friend. He inserts it into his console and shouldn't need to CONNECT ONLINE just to verify that he's allowed to play it.
That's also the point of preservation.
A boy 10 years from now should be able to find an old console and a copy of that game, insert the disc and play it without depending on some company's servers.
The game IS on the disc. Not a code in a box. Not an entitlement sitting on a server somewhere.
Digital can work in a similar direction too.
If you buy a DRM-free digital game, download the complete game onto your hardware and it remains playable offline without constantly asking somebody else's server for permission, that's much closer to actual ownership.
The problem was never simply DIGITAL BAD, DISC GOOD.
The problem is DEPENDENCY.
If the product you paid for requires their servers to authenticate your ownership, then ultimately your access still depends on them.
And why do companies keep pushing us toward online-dependent digital ownership?
Because it gives them more control.
More control over access, resale, licensing, monetization, and whether that copy still works ten or twenty years from now.
A game you truly own can leave their ecosystem.
A server-dependent entitlement can't.
That's why this matters.
This isn't a fight over plastic.
It's a fight over who controls the copy after you've paid for it.
Xbox has announced a new Disc to Digital feature.
Insert a supported physical game and you'll also get digital access through your Microsoft account, with Play Anywhere and Cloud Gaming where supported. Your physical disc still works.
You obviously need an internet connection for the initial verification and redemption.
So for ownership, this really changes nothing. You're still relying on Microsoft's servers to recognize that digital entitlement.
It's a convenience feature, not an ownership feature.
