@Place2Be I hear every day how CAMHS have knocked back children who are anxious,as they are autistic & they can’t be on that pathway for support .. surely it’s about therapists having the knowledge of autism and how it can present . and adapting the therapy as the relationship evolves .
@Place2Be About to start level 4 ! Moving from a 19 year career as a SEN teacher to counselling, while I continue as a foster carer. My interest is for those children who can’t access counselling easily due to their neurodivergence. It should be accessible for all. There’s a gap for sure
Creative arts courses at English universities face funding cut- well it just makes a mockery of all the crap spouted about how they value the creative industries. I’ve never wanted an election as much as #GE24. Foolish people. @NEATENart https://t.co/qQuIQWOuNt
I will be thinking of Ruth Perry and her family tomorrow, as I do most days. Rest in peace. Thank you for all you gave. It shouldn’t have ended this way. #rememberingruth#shinealight
As people go back to work, students go back to school or university and life starts up after New Year, please be mindful of NOT talking about your diet plans or exercise goals because you never know how triggering this may be for those around you affected by eating disorders!
Lovely CPD session with my department this afternoon. We were all experimenting with gelli print techniques, so that we can be more confident when using them with students. I chose a beetroot theme for mine…😊
@positiv07652695@___batshitcrazy Yes yes yes! You’ve just described why my son won’t speak at school and has to wear a lanyard of communication pictures round his neck! (He’s a very articulate child!)
@Flatfooted75@___batshitcrazy If you’re talking about send - I’m not surprised because the whole system is failing SEnD children. I used to get annoyed with these parents, but now I am one - trying to fight for what my child needs. He spends all day in fight/flight and explodes at home. It’s exhausting
@nellwebbsend @___batshitcrazy Absolutely agree with this. I’ve noticed it with my own son. And covid lockdowns stopped all the play and social times and the only thing that helped him through was his Minecraft with his online friends. This has stuck now and he’s not interested in anything else! Nightmare
@LouiseClazey This is exactly what I wish I could do with staff who teach Art . Unfortunately in our SEN school many staff teach lots of subjects so I just don’t get the time with them at once 😩😩 I really wish I had time with my art teachers 😭
Been working on visual overviews for SEN students . These will help students with retrieval, literacy skills, metacognition, and also improve outcomes ! I tested one out with year 11 and they gave lovely feedback! They really like the comic style . “It looks fun to learn”
@StevoGSD@GillianKeegan Yes behaviour is a challenge in many schools -lots down to lack of provision/training for SEN ,lack of mental health support /wider services/lack of social care support due to pressures there too. Lack of vocational opportunities in schools ,poor understanding of neurodivergence
@GillianKeegan You really have no idea what is going on! Data is just one part ! Is that all you care about? What about wellbeing ? SEN? What about a broad curriculum (schools struggle due to lack of funds!) what about specialist teachers ? (Leaving in droves in my son’s school ) it’s a mess!
