🎗 In a breakthrough that could reshape cancer treatment, scientists have discovered that honeybee venom can destroy 100% of aggressive breast cancer cells in less than 60 minutes. The key lies in a powerful compound called melittin, found in honeybee venom but not in bumblebee venom.

Researchers tested the venom on various breast cancer cell types in lab dishes and found that melittin acts like a precision-guided weapon. It punches holes in cancer cell membranes, causing the cells to die quickly. What’s even more promising is that melittin leaves healthy cells largely untouched, suggesting it could be used for treatments with fewer side effects than chemotherapy or radiation.

Melittin proved especially effective against triple-negative breast cancer and HER2-enriched breast cancer, two of the most difficult types to treat. This discovery opens new doors to developing safer, more targeted cancer therapies using natural compounds.

We are all relieved and grateful that Dawa Sherpa has miraculously survived and returned alive after days alone on Mt Everest. But while we celebrate the fact that he is alive, many serious questions remain unanswered.

Why was Dawa Sherpa left behind high on the mountain in the first place? When he failed to arrive at the lower camps, why was there no immediate communication with him? How could a climber remain missing for days on Everest without an urgent rescue initiative being launched? Why was human life seemingly not treated as the highest priority?

Another difficult question must also be asked. If the person left behind on Everest had been a foreign client rather than a Sherpa, would the same thing have happened? Would days have passed without a major search effort? Or would helicopters, rescue teams, and international attention have been mobilized immediately? It is an uncomfortable question, but one that deserves an honest answer.

This case also raises broader concerns about accountability and the growing sense of lawlessness on the world's highest mountain. Where is the Government of Nepal when such incidents occur? Everest operates under permits, regulations, and government oversight. If a climber can be left behind and remain missing for days without apparent accountability, what does that say about the system meant to protect human life? Who is responsible for enforcing the rules, investigating negligence, and ensuring that companies put safety before business?

Dawa Sherpa survived. That is the good news. But survival should not be used as an excuse to avoid questions. The mountaineering community, the public, and Dawa himself deserve answers.

A new vaccine shows promise in preventing up to 88% of aggressive cancers like melanoma, pancreatic cancer, and triple-negative breast cancer, according to a recent study from researchers at University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Using tiny lipid nanoparticles packed with two immune-boosting molecules, the vaccine trains both arms of the immune system to recognize and destroy tumor cells. These nanoparticles trigger a fast, general response from the innate immune system and a slower, more targeted attack from the adaptive immune system, which creates memory for long-term protection.

In tests on mice, the vaccine was injected under the skin on a schedule of three doses and paired with either tumor-specific peptides or full tumor protein mixtures. When tested against three challenging cancer types, the results were striking: mice receiving the full vaccine completely rejected tumors, while untreated mice or those with a single adjuvant died within weeks.

Even more impressive, mice that survived the first round stayed tumor-free when re-exposed to cancer months later, showing strong immune memory. The particles effectively reached lymph nodes, critical sites for triggering immune responses, and activated key messenger cells that stimulate both T cells and B cells, the main players in killing cancer cells and remembering them.

When the vaccine used whole tumor lysate instead of isolated peptides, it still protected 69% to 88% of mice across all cancer types tested, and all vaccinated mice survived a second cancer challenge. This broad protection suggests the vaccine could work across multiple cancers, not just one.
