JUST IN | SpaceX CEO Elon Musk alleges that the satellite broadband service Starlink is "being blocked by certain oligarchs" in India, "in order to maintain their monopolistic chokehold on the Indian people." Mr. Musk called these alleged hurdles "a crime against the people of India".

Not a peep from Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay yet in the assault on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi yesterday, as he was being arrested.
The party did put out a release. It’s not the same as the party’s only leader protesting this inhumane treatment meted out to the Leader of Opposition in the Indian 🇮🇳 Parliament.
I was listening to Illayaraja songs on my drive today and I realized a few things about Illayaraja and his music and why he probably is one of the greatest music directors of all time
1. The songs stay in your sub conscious memory even if you have listned to the song once, And if someone even mentions that song in passing, you remember the movie, the setting, the context, the tune everything, even if the movie had released before you were born.
OTOH you don't remember any of the songs made by Anirudh and other latest music directors
2. You will never tire of Illayaraja's songs. You can listen to them on the loop, and they still sound as amazing as they did when you listened for the first time. You never get tired of them
With today's song, as pulsating as they may be while you listen to them, you want to move on from them as quickly as possible.
3. Illayaraja ensured lyrics of a song got its due respect and position in the song. Which in turn inspired lyricists to give their best. They wrote songs with great depth and meaning, which were then elevated thru his music.
Thereforr most Illayaraja songs made you think and introspect
Today, lyrics are meant to be a background buzz, meant to be drowned by a cacophony of electronic noise and beats. So they lyricists have nowadays stopped trying. I mean what's the point of writing good lyrics, when all people care about are the beats.
4. Illayaraja never lost consistency. He was as good in 1976 as he was in 2016. He never lost his musical acumen and never sounded repetitive. Is there any music director who gave a diverse album like Hey Ram 24 years into his career? You already can't distinguish a Beast From a Vikram from a Jawaan of Ani in the 14th year of his career.
Truly Illayaraja is a maestro who was probably sent by God to make music so that plebians like us got some peace and happiness.
Not only these kinds of performances, but even things like playing blindfolded should never be considered the highest measure of musicianship.
I truly wish the current generation and the next generation focus more on the depth, emotion and beauty of music, rather than only on such performance-based challenges.
These things can be fun and interesting on a few special stages like this, but beyond that, I personally feel the real journey should always be towards music itself. ❤️😄🙏🏽
With VCK leader Thol. Thirumavalavan confirming support for TVK, C. Joseph Vijay's party will form a coalition government in Tamil Nadu. TVK won 108 seats, while Congress, CPI, CPI(M) and VCK are set to be part of the alliance, comfortably crossing the majority mark of 119 seats.

Both Illaiyaraja and ARR are geniuses but are completely different from one another . What I find hollow in many people is that they are so prejudiced in favor of one or the other that they forget that there have been gigantic composers in India before these people. When it comes to music, it’s never one against the other, it’s what each one brings in terms of freshness and originality and both of these names are brilliant. Why compare
Pentagon sending more Marines and warships to West Asia is the first open acknowledgement that the war is not going as planned. Now everyone, from trump to netanyahu, have given up on regime change hopes. The Strait of Hormuz remains closed; radars got hit, tankers got hit and four planes went down. If Hormuz remains shut, there would be pandemonium in the energy market from next week. So far, despite massive air strikes, Tehran has not relented. trump can step back and declare victory — but for that, he would need a mutual ceasefire. Or he will have to send ground forces to inflict some serious damage on Iran (which could also turn out to be a tragedy). No easy options for trump. he started this war. And he has no exit path. #IranWar
Iran held a large funeral procession for 165 schoolgirls and school staff who were brutally slaughtered on Saturday in a horrific U.S.-Israeli strike on a girls school in the southern city of Minab.
A couple of things about my #Iran posts
Disagree with my views, but don't casually disregard my facts. Whatever I have written about Iran, including that Tehran was fully compliant with the terms of the 2015 nuclear agreement until Trump came and sabotaged it in 2018, was factual. If I make factual mistakes, I own them up and make corrections. That's part of my job.
Two, I am not anti-West. I am non-West--that's a methodological difference. I refuse to fall prey to the mainstream western narrative. My world is not divided between binaries. In the case of Iran, there were several binaries-- the liberal one is that this is a fight between an oppressive regime and a freedom-loving people; and there is conservative binary between American interventionism and the Islamist radicalism of the East. Which one you will choose--they will ask you! None. I try to look at the grey matter.
That doesn't mean that I am blind to the quest of the Iranian people for more rights and freedoms. I have written extensively about the inability of the system to reform--including reports from Tehran. But you have to place the rigidity of the system in the extremely hostile economic and geopolitical environment it is operating in. You should also be mindful of the propaganda. In the Persian Gulf, Iran and Iraq are the only two countries that offer some meaningful representation to their people. Thirty million people, that's half the electorate, voted in the 2024 Presidential elections in Iran. Have you heard of it? While other despotic countries in the region -- presidential or monarchical-- have functional economies, either thanks to their oil wealth or economic assistance from the US--Iran, despite its oil wealth, is unable to take care of the economic needs of its people, because of the sanctions. That's what is keeping the system rigid, triggering circles of crisis.
The liberal critique of Iran, which Said would love to call Oriental gaze, overlooks these structural realities. Because they don’t fit their narratives, which are used by their foreign policy establishments, including the human rights-living Israel. As students of IR, our job is to go beyond the mainstream narratives and simpleton generalisations, drawing in from history, particularly from the recent western military interventions in the east in the name of bringing in freedom and democracy.
The main difference between other parties and TVK during such events is the mobility of the cadre.
Mostly, cadre of DMK and ADMK don’t move along the convoy of their leaders and remain static. Regulated through the local units.
With TVK, a large chunk of unruly cadre move along the convoy of Vijay creating a threat for the public. When the convoy of Vijay reaches the venue or leaves the venue, this unruly chunk also move around which results in push and pull adding to the stampede.
In the defence of Vijay, TVK has been advising the cadre not to follow the convoy but many don’t listen.
Till TVK fix this, he should avoid road rallies.
TVK knows what led to the stampede in Karur, it’s time they accept and address it.
Merely spreading baseless conspiracies won’t help the party.
