The Ateneo townhall on June 16 was raw, heavy, and deeply necessary. 3 basketball players took the floor, detailing the scenes and their "chicken encounter" with Rene.
Meanwhile, Ateneo president Fr. Bobby’s responses showed a glaring lack of appreciation for the bigger picture. It's 2026, yet leadership ignored how social media can be a tool for truth, transparency, and humanity.
Instead, they were forced to face their own community, in flesh and blood, as pent-up emotions were laid bare.
In this thread, I share my notes so I will not forget — the details, the lessons, the stories.

On TV Patrol: According to a March 2026 national survey, 1 in 2 Filipinos say they lack awareness of the allegations and evidence against VP Sara Duterte. In response, we’re forming the #BantaySenado network, a citizen-led initiative to monitor how Senate will lead the impeachment trial. Watch out for the public launch very soon— and we’ll be going to barangays, schools, and other community spaces around the country to inform and engage Filipinos to monitor the trial. More than 350 volunteers, mostly students and young professionals, have already signed up to power the network and we’re looking for more! If you’re keen to join our mission, sign up via https://t.co/eLfacRh5TT. Bantay Senado is open to all those who believe in constitutional duty, accountability, and truth. Sama-sama natin bantayan ang Senado at paglilitis ni VP Sara! 👁️
Is the ICC a foreign court?
No. It is not “dayuhan”; it is international. As a member of the community of nations, the Philippines—through Filipino legal scholars and experts—was part of the creation of the ICC and the drafting of the Rome Statute itself.
The International Criminal Court is authorized to try the gravest crimes known to humanity: crimes against humanity, genocide, and war crimes.
Filipinos are not strangers to this Court. In fact, several Filipinos helped shape the Rome Statute that created the ICC. We even had two Filipinos elected as ICC judges: Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago and Dean Raul Pangalangan.
So the ICC is not an alien invader. It is part of the international justice system that Filipinos helped build.
michelle obama said you have to know how to exist when life is just life.
she said “sometimes it’s like, this is not exciting. i’m not winning. i’m not losing. i’m not achieving. it’s not a party. i don’t have friends around everyday.
most of life is just the nothing in the middle. most of life is just ordinary. you gotta be happy being a little bored.” and I felt that.
there’s a lot to unpack.
first, it is so unfair to emman for people to immediately conclude a single reason behind her passing, as if a person’s life and pain could ever be reduced to one narrative. this obsession with finding someone or something to blame reflects how society continues to misunderstand the complexity of mental health. grief should not be turned into a spectacle, nor should tragedy become material for discourse that lacks empathy and nuance. FIRST TIME MONG SASAMA SA RALLY?
I got you!
Hindi mo agad kailangan ng abugado sa lahat ng panahon. Kapag nakaranas ka ng paglabag sa iyong karapatan, ang dapat mong gawin:
I-assert ang iyong karapatang magsalita, magpahayag, mag protesta.

Finished Tamers. I often think about the potential of hobby anime to portray both the wonder and angst of childhood that it's incredible to see a show realize it so well. Such a turbulent, "stormy" vibe to the whole series that the ending feels like seeing the clouds clear up.
How ironic that the strongman who built a legacy on bypassing due process now wants it for himself – a right that Duterte denied from the thousands brutally slain in his bloody drug war.
