@cbe_sam Same. I believe there’s plenty more work to be done behind the scenes than on stage - and speaking for myself, that kinda work is the bigger personal motivation.
Exactly 5 years ago, when we had come out of the COVID phase, an auto driver I had known reached out to me for an urgent help.
He was struggling to clear 6 months of dues because of COVID related struggles, and he was on the verge of losing his auto next day morning. I was able to arrange ₹80,000 that evening, but I couldn’t manage more, I truly wanted to buy him a new auto and not worry about losing what he had.
I had a thought of asking all of you for help and put up a post on X. Within exactly 2 hours, almost 72 Thalaivar fans and few others came forward to support the cause. Together, we raised enough money to help him buy an auto NEXT DAY. Contributions came in from ₹50 to ₹20,000. Which includes .@imravee and .@rameshlaus.
Today, he has bought his second auto and is planning to rent it out. He has also managed to get his daughter a seat in a good CBSE school. He is extremely happy.
This is life-changing. Sometimes, kindness truly changes the course of a family’s future.
“Unfortunately, I don’t remember all the names of the people who contributed that day. I’m sorry if I’m missing now; it’s been a long time.” I wanted to share to let you all know... who ever contributed that night🥰🥰🥰🥰
A BIG THANK YOU from him
If you find this auto on road🥰 ...
Every few hours that image of the little toddler with two broken arms flashes before eyes. We live in a cruel simulation where the gods are our desperate imagination.
Yes, the United States has the most progressive tax system in the world. The top 1% pay 40% of taxes, the bottom 50% pay 3% of taxes. We can make it even more progressive by zeroing out taxes on the bottom half. It’s a small amount of the total tax revenue but very meaningful to people in this group.
Indigo's online store is now on @Shopify. Millions of products. 135 locations. A true Canadian icon.
But Indigo isn't just a bookstore. It's nearly 30 years of reinvention.
I've known Heather Reisman for years. She raised $25 million and built Indigo from the ground up into Canada's largest bookseller. She's one of the most determined founders I've ever met.
From Canadian builder to Canadian builder. Welcome to Shopify, Indigo.
