🇺🇸 US Army Nurse Colonel Mary Jo Rice-Mahoney in 1969, received orders to report to the 67th Evacuation Hospital in Qui Nhon, near the DMZ. There she worked as an intensive care and recovery room nurse 6 days a week in 12-hour shifts.

“You worked when they needed you and rested when you found the time,” she says. “If you were asked to work 7 days a week, you didn’t question your commanders. You just responded to the needs of your team.”
It wasn’t just the war injuries that kept the nurses busy, but also medical cases (strokes and heart attacks) plus diseases endemic to the area, such as malaria and hepatitis. At the 67th Evac the patients came from all the services.

In Nam, explosions were everywhere. Burn injuries were some of the worst casualties of war. They were treated with Sulfamylon, a thick cream applied over affected areas. “The difficult part was removing the old cream before reapplying more to the skin,” says Rice-Mahoney. “I remember hearing patients cry out even after a hefty dose of narcotics.”

One of her patients a double amputee in the intensive care unit, received a letter from his wife telling him she was divorcing him. “So not only were these men going through the trauma of combat, but also dealing with struggles in their personal lives,” says Rice-Mahoney. “We were nursing their wounds and their spirits.”

"In 1994 a patient I cared for found me,” she says. They met in Washington, D.C. He remembered everything: my face, the name on my fatigue army shirt, even his surgeon’s name,” says Rice-Mahoney. “What I recalled was his depression after a massive leg injury.”

She listened as he reconstructed his experience. “You assisted me from my bed into an old wheelchair. There were several war orphans in the hospital and you placed one of the toddlers, an amputee on my lap. It was then I realized that if this child could smile laugh and live life to the fullest I could do the same.”

"Tim, still think about you. I was there on the day you died. We went through training together, we had some good times. We were so young then, so full of life. I thank God you did not suffer, but the rest of us still do over losing you. Now that I am an old man, my heart breaks knowing that you died at 18 years old, missing out on of a full, happy life.

Wang Wang, a stray mother dog in Guangdong Province, China, was horrifically tortured and burned alive by four minors. Her three 14-day-old puppies were beaten to death as she desperately tried to protect them. 💔🐾

The four minors who tortured and burned Wang Wang alive, and brutally beat her three newborn puppies to death, must be held accountable for their horrific actions. They filmed the entire attack while laughing as they carried out this unimaginable act of cruelty.

Wang Wang’s heartbreaking story has sparked global outrage and renewed calls for stronger legal protections for animals.

Mainland China has no comprehensive, nationwide animal cruelty law, and companion animals are not explicitly protected from abuse under national criminal law.

Iran’s regime just sentenced a 22-year-old rapper to death.

Not for murder. Not for terrorism. For slogans, dissent, for refusing to shut up. Simply for demanding freedom and protesting against oppression.

His name is Mehnam Navab-Safavi. He was arrested, forced to confess, denied a real trial, and now faces execution.

And somehow the international community still treats Iran’s rulers like difficult diplomats instead of what they are: executioners with embassies and good lobbyists in the West.

In the past two weeks alone, at least 50 protesters have reportedly had death sentences issued, upheld, or carried out.

So I call on all rappers, singers, celebrities who post ten slides about free speech, now please be his voice. Because this is free speech with a noose around its neck.

Please use your platform and demand that Iran’s regime stop the execution of Mehnam Navab-Safavi.

Every morning I write about someone Iran just executed, within minutes, a message arrives a mother, a sister, a friend, begging me to write about their loved one who is on the death row. Before it's too late.

This is why I want to write before the execution of this young woman, not after. Arghavan Fallahi. 24 years old. Evin Prison. Sentenced to death.

Judge Salavati one of Iran's most notorious hanging judges, sentenced her under "Baghi," armed rebellion.

During months in solitary confinement, she was subjected to severe psychological torture and pressure to make forced confessions. But she refused. So they sentenced her to death anyway.

Fellow female prisoners who were with Arghavan inside Evin say her situation is urgent. The torture has left her with severe psychological trauma and physical illness. She is not just facing the death sentence, she is suffering right now, inside that cell. But is still alive and is still time to save her life.

Please join me and help us Iranians to say her name now and demand international community and the leader leaders of the world to put pressure on these that republic to stop them from executing her and other political prisoners.
