#Pakistan: CPJ is deeply concerned about the deteriorating health of Times of Kashmir journalist Syed Farhad Ali Shah, who has been detained since June 20 under the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance after covering protests in Pakistan-administered Kashmir.

Held for more than a month without charge or judicial proceedings, Shah began a hunger strike on Tuesday, July 28, to protest his arbitrary detention. Authorities must ensure he receives urgent and adequate medical care and immediately and unconditionally release him.

Today I, being the Chief Executive of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, along with my cabinet and parliamentarians, going to Adiala Jail situated in the province of Punjab to show solidarity with former Prime Minister of Pakistan Mr. Imran Khan.

The federal government has stopped us in Islamabad 26 number chowk. It’s not only an insult of the chief executive but of the 46 Million people of KP.

The federal government has also stopped the Gas of KP. Punjab government has stopped the wheat movement towards KP. All of these acts are against the spirit of federation and the constitution of Pakistan.

Mr. Imran Khan has lost 85% of his eyesight due to the negligence of Adiala Jail’s administration and their handlers. He is not being allowed to meet his legal counsel, family and even personal physician. The federal government is not obeying the court orders and Punjab government is violating the fundamental rights of a political prisoner. Mr. Imran Khan is being treated inhumanely and has been placed in complete solitary confinement since November 2025.

We strongly demand the immediate access of Imran Khan sahb’s family and personal physician to him without any further delay. The state of his health is a matter of serious national concern and any harm caused to him due to negligence or deliberate denial of medical care is the direct responsibility of the federal government, the Punjab police, the administration of Adiala Jail and their handlers. We warn that the nation is watching and history will not forgive those who remain silent or complicit. Justice must prevail and it will prevail!

The impact of hundreds of elected members (Senators, MNAs and MPAs) of KP and Punjab assemblies at Adiala will be huge.

It WILL create the necessary pressure on this Govt (who is in power by stealing Imran Khan’s mandate) to get Imran Khan treated at Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad.

It is an urgent and necessary pressure for Dogar court to take up Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi’s bail applications and set them FREE.

Police usually arrests Imran Khan’s supporters; not the family or elected members. We appeal to Imran Khan’s supporters (who are not office holders) NOT to come to Adiala today.

عمران خان اور بشریٰ بی بی کو تنہائی میں قید رکھا گیا ہے، جو کہ بہت بڑا ظلم ہے اور پاکستانی قوانین اور بین الاقوامی انسانی حقوق کے معیارات کی خلاف ورزی ہے
