@benonwine Why would you vote for somebody who never turns up to do the job, and takes £5m bungs from foreign nationals to do their bidding? Take back control to give it to foreigners? Wake up, Farage is only in it for himself and as much as he can trouser.
@benonwine Since the 50s MacMillan, Callaghan, Major, Brown, May, Johnson, Truss, Sunak and Burnham? took over without an election. 9 of them.
The ones who got in on an election: Wilson, Heath, Thatcher, Cameron, Blair, Starmer. 6.
Only MacMillan, Wilson, Thatcher and Blair served for 5+.
@bpete1969@SamCKx And you are falling for all the misinformation too. The Express! It’s more than GDP. Those three countries might be the biggest, but they all have specific problems right now. All the other EU countries have higher GDP than UK.
@engineers_feed Alan Arnold Griffith published An Aerodynamic Theory of Turbine Design in 1926 leading to experimental work at the RAE. And that enabled the technology for Whittle with more work.

@engineers_feed Not the first though. A stationary turbine engine was granted a patent in 1791 to John Barber. A Norwegian built the first working one in 1903. The first patent for a gas turbine was filed in 1921 by Maxime Guillaume, but it was never built because of lack of technology.
