@BrandoFlex@NateSilver538 Harris isn’t going to come close to winning a competitive primary, and even if she were installed as the candidate by some forced mandate, she would pick a white guy as her running mate again.
@Dadelaidian@mattyglesias IMG Academy is one of the top producers of professional athletes in the US. Tuition is about $90,000 a year, but a lot of the top professional talent are not rich kids. The rich kids paying 90k subsidize the prodigies with pro potential, who go for free if they an't afford it.
@Dadelaidian@mattyglesias Top club teams and prep schools do not deny truly elite, prodigious young talents because of money reasons. Obviously they are not perfect talent scouts, and sometimes they miss out on elite talent, and having the money as a fall back plan opens up doors, but talent opens doors.
@bigtatorlover@NateSilver538@katz_morris If he had ignored this, it would be a small beans anonymous background reporting story that gets discussed for 24 hours and then goes away, but he Streisand effected the story by trying to force the source to recant, making her double down and go on the record.
@bigtatorlover@NateSilver538@katz_morris The campaign's media strategist told Ms. McDonald he was going to accuse her of lying and sabotage by name if she didn't retract her statements on a recorded phone call. He turned this whole thing into a bigger story by trying to make it go away. https://t.co/27hkzW5FWO
@baseballot@BenShindel Inexcusably stupid decision by ABC. The article on p-hacking in scientific studies was extremely informative and evergreen. If anything, it might be more relevant today than it was when it was first posted.
@jonfavs@mattberg33 The idea that Gaza is the main/biggest reason Harris lost is absurd. MI is the only swing state where it might have made a noticeable difference, and losing PA, WI, GA, and AZ makes that a moot point. Harris lost ground with almost every single demographic group.
@pinedegen@NateSilver538 Yes, I can and do blame anyone who thinks the Trump admin is capable of pulling off that kind of cover up. It makes us all look stupid that the belief has such a foothold among online Democrats.
@MileHighNuffer@Avalanche Nah, they just look stupid. I’m not reflexively opposed to all AI, and there is stuff it does well today, but AI images and GIFs now are like face lifts in the 90s. In the future the tech will improve enough to not stand out, but right now they look unbelievably stupid.
@Irba_w@maximum The boss in its original state would kill ~75% of CE guilds. It was designed to be a very unique challenge for the absolute best players to ever play the game, which it was. It was by far the hardest mechanical boss ever.
Paladin Tonycook is the grumpy and self-serious leader with a heart of gold, while mage Tonycook is the science and gadgets guy of the group but spends most of his time complaining that fire magic isn't good anymore, because he considers using frost magic beneath him.
I'm playing WoW casually for the first time in a long time and have decided to make my Warband a serialized "will they or won't they" mystery romantic comedy crew with an elaborate headquarters using the new housing content.
Foxytony is a Vulpera rogue who claims to be an ancient elven druid who discovered a powerful fox shapeshift form but became stuck just to annoy his roommate and primary love interest, actual elven druid Tonythetiger.
@mrblutarsky62@JeffPassan Judge went 0-5 with 4 Ks last night, and they won by 7. I think they’ll be fine. The Yankees had the best base runs records in the American League last year. They’re very, very good, though admittedly the AL East is tough.
@Meimi132@VDOOZER I would put an episode of Scrubs in a list of best sitcom episodes, but the AD pilot absolutely belongs as well. It’s probably the best network sitcom pilot ever - most great comedies don’t come into their own until season 2-3.
@JasonSorens@TwoFourteenAM@NateSilver538 Companies don't have the long term best interest of society in mind. Ignoring AI, we see this all the time with private equity buyouts of companies. They make decisions that are bad for the long term (cutting corners, layoffs) in order to maximize short term profits.
