COA was honored to host Chilean Minister of Foreign Affairs @MinPerezMac and Chilean Ambassador to the U. S. Andrés Ergas Heymann (@EmbajadaChileUS) for a private dinner with our members at the University Club in DC on July 7.
During the discussion, Minister Pérez Mackenna shared his views on Chile’s foreign policy priorities and the country’s role in an increasingly interconnected global economy. Participants discussed the country's longstanding commitment to open trade, international integration, and regional cooperation, as well as opportunities to strengthen its ties with the United States and other strategic partners.
Thank you to Minister Pérez Mackenna, Ambassador Ergas, the minister’s team, and our members for engaging in this important conversation.
Council of the Americas, in partnership with @CNI_br, convened a high-level roundtable in Brasilia on July 2 to address the challenges and pathways to strengthening Brazil's response to illegal cross-border activity. The event brought together senior government officials, policy experts, and private sector leaders to discuss the importance of institutional cooperation in reducing the impact of the illegal market on Brazilian industry, which, in turn, will strengthen competitiveness, investment, and economic development.
"The response to illicit trade requires continuous enforcement, cooperation between the public and private sectors, and regulatory frameworks. The solution depends on joint effort," said COA's Vice President of Policy @BrazilBrian.
