@whitequark The problem with Verilog is not the cursed event semantics. Not the lint tools that think warning count is a figure of merit. Not the preprocessor scope. Not the vendor tools that only run on CentOS 6.
It's that if you write enough Verilog, you inevitably end up writing TCL too.
hey @__phantomderp i have a proposal to make C more approachable! you know how people are intimidated by all the *'s in pointer syntax? if we introduce a :3 digraph for * then you don't need * any more

Here's the final result. Looking much less like a transformer than the original bodge with the Digilent Pmod test point board with all ground wires sitting in loops straight next to each other.
Soldering tip:
You can use pin header jumpers as a makeshift jig for making sure that two adjacent pin header rows have the same angle and sit upright on the board.
@pepijndevos Not sure how much variety is there in flex PCB materials, but when holding this flex PCB/cable against some LEDs they punch straight through. Hard to capture on camera, but you probably need some kind of a diffuser.
