Day of shame for #NZ. In late timeslot towards end of high-level segment of UN General Assembly, Foreign Minister reveals what Cabinet decided 11 days ago: that unlike many others with whom #NZ normally is likeminded, Govt will not recognise #Palestine. Incomprehensible.

New Zealand remains steadfast in its support for Ukraine as it defends itself in a war that Russia started.
It's mounting the defence of a proud, democratic and sovereign nation, but also the defence of international law.
We have freedom of speech in the UK; it's written into our law in the 1998 Human Rigts Act. But rights come with responsibilities (I appreciate that's a concept you're not familiar with); there's a requirement not to incite criminality or spread hatred online. We find society works better that way.
@winstonpeters Accusing someone else of underhanded politics while casually leaning on bigoted culture wars that won’t make the lives of New Zealanders better…
🎙️ Had an absolute blast sitting down with @tomedwards for his new podcast, Complete Tech Heads.

This week I’m talking with @aselles, Head of Marketing at @helloklyk. We discuss his journey, his passion for the technology world, impostor syndrome, empathy, and spend a good deal of time discussing AI and its potential impact on SEO, among other things.
Massive thanks to Alex for joining me. I really enjoyed the conversation, I hope you do too. Links below – and here’s a snippet of the chat…

@HarryHamishGray Unsure how a helmet is safer than proper cycling infrastructure. Helmets aren’t designed to stop you getting mangled by a crappy driver 🤦🏻♂️
@radionz I saw this hatred when I visited NZ recently, I see it often from people I know online. She’s had her struggles (every leader has the last few years), but she’s led with empathy & intelligence and is an absolute credit to NZ. Would a man have faced this abuse? Probably not.
#PrimeMinister@jacindaardern resigned today. I am not surprised nor do I blame her. Her treatment, the pile on, in the last few months has been disgraceful and embarrassing. All the bullies, the misogynists, the aggrieved. She deserved so much better. A great leader. Thanks PM!
@gunnerjez89@benmackey National’s climate policy in 2020 was disqualifying and I can’t even find anything on their website now. Less said about ACTs the better. Greens are only party putting necessary climate policy forward. Step out of your media bubble if you think they’re just a social justice party
@gunnerjez89@benmackey Take your pick between people who care about the future of the planet, or are ten years ahead of the rest of the population on social issues.
If @RishiSunak becomes PM without a single interview or a smidgin of scrutiny, let alone a public vote, the British electoral system will look no more democratic than a banana republic. He will have no mandate. And that is disgraceful.
There are no words to describe this utter shambles adequately. It’s beyond hyperbole - & parody.
Reality tho is that ordinary people are paying the price.
The interests of the Tory party should concern no-one right now.
A General Election is now a democratic imperative.
