Is anyone working on improving on the pareto frontier of compression algorithms using frontier models? Seems like a great area apply them to, as there is a huge tangible real-world potential payoff (could lead to exabytes of data saved, and hundreds of millions (?) of $$)
Too many people still think of the market as a weighing machine. In the super long term it looks like one.
However, in reality it's more like a collective game of poker where we pick the winners. Just don't be on the wrong side.

@sanjeevsanyal To be fair, Scots benefited quite a bit as well. Many prominent intellectuals of the 18th century, such as Adam Smith, were actually Scottish. And they benefitted immensely from adopting English
@crusadepepe So something funny that not many people know, is, employers *also* pay a 6.2% social security tax on all wages *paid*. So in effect you're paying a 12.4% tax
