Closing out #SPRDublin2023@SPRtweets with our panel on mechanisms + adaptations of #ROM. Hint: different therapies require different dropout prediction models. Thanks to all who came along so late in the program!
And happy #DublinPride! 🏳️🌈
Excited to share that my first first-authored paper (w/ @A_page007 and Geoff Hooke) has been published in @SPRtweets! We demonstrate that simple models can predict therapy dropout based only on comorbidity. Read it here: https://t.co/aCid7dgD1y
@AshGCameron from @UWApsych presenting at #SPRDublin2023 about how dropput from therapy can be predicted - different models are needed for different therapies
Stoked to be at #SPRDublin2023 (in the flesh! ☘️) presenting some new insights from my research in psychotherapy #dropout amongst some #ROM greats.
⏰ Saturday June 24, 3:15pm @SPRtweets
This new open-access paper helmed by @UWAPsych PhD candidate Jack Brett presents an improved way to assess restricted and repetitive behaviours (e.g., insisting on routines, arranging items in rows). Try it on your friends and family! https://t.co/WDMyItUo7C

Excited to have the opportunity to share some of my PhD research at #AACBT22 (@AACBT_org_au) in Naarm/Melbourne this week. Machine learning can help us identify patients at-risk of dropout in routine practice. I think it’s pretty cool!

@31polkadots@meltedslushy@bbflowa@jacasiegel@lelregi@IsabelOakeshott Here are the DSM criteria for BED. Note how nowhere is weight mentioned as a necessary criterion. Only the person’s subjective experience of distress. Many ‘overweight’ people are happy with their eating and many don’t even overeat.

@31polkadots@meltedslushy@bbflowa@jacasiegel@lelregi@IsabelOakeshott You’re conflating overeating with ‘binge eating disorder’. Overeating is not a psychological disorder. Bingeing is characterised by guilt, shame, feeling a loss of control (being obese isn’t even a criterion). Don’t pathologise normal behaviours to justify your fatphobia.
Nothing like chilling at the beach (w/ @SophiaMoore95) to unwind after an inspiring day at #AACBT21! Stoked to have been able to hear more about Australia’s world class research in the space of #CBTworks. Next on the agenda: hang out with virtual quokkas? 🏖🧠🍹
I'm very excited to share my first publication with @UWA_CARE @LDondzilo @DRudaizky@UWApsych!
Contrary to popular belief, we found that overweight individuals demonstrate a greater tendency to approach healthy rather than unhealthy food. Read more here: https://t.co/tFO5gZdDuV
You can still have your voice heard in the Sibling Project Survey! Open to anyone ages 8 and up. The first prize draw is tonight, don’t miss out! Help our @telethonkids and @UWApsych research team learn about the #sibling experience! Anonymous link here: https://t.co/hnXCUGH6FM
1/ Thread (and it's a big'un!):
Issues with Psychotherapy Research
It is 2021 and virtually none of following major issues have been largely addressed, which severely undermines the practical value of the research.
