A rested workforce serves the public better. With staff shortages and rising stress, 5-day banking is a service-quality issue, not a “perk.” UFBU has pursued this since 2015; IBA has recommended it to the Government (MoU 07-12-2023), and it’s included in the 12th Bipartite/9th Joint Note (08-03-2024), pending clearances.
Let’s finish what’s already agreed.

Merging Nov 2021 DA to Basic pay instead of Nov 2022 DA itself is a loss of 14%. On the top of that Just 16% hike with 2.5% load on basic pay is just humiliation to the hard working PSB employees who hav givn ONE lakh cr of net profit in last FY & 68000 cr net profit in curnt FY

Manmohan Singh introduced the concept of indexation into our tax system, and it is a powerful one. It adjusts your purchase price to account for inflation and lowers your tax bill accordingly. Not fully, but generally 75% of the actual inflation rate. It applies to assets such as real estate and gold, but not equity and debt (from 1st April 2023).

This is a pity, because indexation is particularly suited to for debt-like products with low returns. The 20% with indexation tax actually results in a lower tax bill than even the 10% (applicable to equity), when returns are low and inflation is high. What do I mean? Check out our example below.

So, even though hybrid funds taxed as equity are possible substitutes, debt products should ideally get indexation. This is why it is important for the #mutualfund industry to launch products that get indexation (equity between 35% and 65%). Story by @SatyaSontanam https://t.co/b37eRrCVWA
