Meet Ram Chandra Agarwal,
Born into a poverty and diagnosed with polio at just four years old, he has built a retail empire worth around ₹6,552 crore with 590+ stores across India.
His journey wasn't easy. While attending college, he worked to support his family. He started with a small photocopy shop and later tried selling soft drinks, but neither venture took off.
In 2001, he started Vishal Mega Mart with a vision to bring affordable fashion and daily essentials to India's masses. The retail chain grew rapidly and became a household name, especially in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.
However, after facing financial troubles and mounting debt, he sold the company in 2011 for just ₹70 crore. But Ram didn't give up.
He bounced back and launched V-Mart Retail, turning it into a thriving retail empire. Today, V-Mart is valued at over ₹6,552 crore, with 590+ stores across India.
