"INDIAN YOUTHS! WE POLITICIANS ARE WITH YOU! WE ARE COOL LIKE YOU! NO CAP RIZZ SHIZZ ETC."
Average age of the Lok Sabha:
1947: 45.6 years
2026: 55.6 years
This is the oldest Lok Sabha Independent India has ever had.
I had broken the story how DM Roopam's matter was allotted to the bench that doesn't have the roster for preventive detention matters. Now, it has emerged that student Akriti had infact earlier approached the Supreme Court to quash his detention which was before J Nagarathna.
This is a country which had an army chief/union minister who had two dates of birth on record.
That is just one example.
And it expects its poorest citizens to have records of their ancestry perfectly in place…
One mistake many in #India made was to believe that it could make itself useful for the Americans as a bulwark against #China as the U.S. and China are pitted against each other for global domination in the 21st century. Washington today is competing with China but is not interested in a confrontation. It wants to manage the competition and build what the Chinese would call strategic stability. They also clearly don’t want to prop up India and help create a third pole. The U.S. is well aware that unipolarity has passed. This G2 approach is not just a trump thing. The DC establishment would prefer a bipolar competition with China, relegating the rest to manageable sub-powers. This effectively downgrades the value of India in DC’s strategic thinking. The Indians should take note of it.

Justice Atul Sreedharan and Justice Achal Sachdev's observation for Noida DM Medha Roopam, also daughter of chief election commissioner Gyanesh Kumar
"District magistrate (Noida) desired to set an example out of the petitioner and deter others from exercising their right to freedom of speech and expression in public spaces in support of the labourer. The district magistrate Noida is guilty of violating her oath of allegiance"
Corruption is not an issue anymore because everyone understands (and even respects) this basic human urge to hoard, to make more money. We even celebrate the top 15-20 billionaires of the nation as some sort of beacons of our culture and pride.
But what gets missed in this razzle-dazzle is that corruption is not just someone making extra money by bending rules - it also means those bent rules KILL people. In building fires, collapses, fake cancer medicines, adulterated foods, drunk driving, and a hundred other ways.
Corruption actually means someone making money by murdering people, murdering us.
Rained heavily as we returned to Nuwakot early this morning. Trishuli, Dunghe all flattened out by the angry flashfloods. Extremely difficult to walk even a few metres in all the wet mud, sludge and debris. Heard horrific eye witness accounts . Watch the full ground report on Youtube-SmitaSharmaJournalist

While we discuss the moral lessons by Subhash Chandra and Zee group, it is good to remind ourselves of how he became an MP.
This is also about EC's role in ensuring people's mandate.
Year: June 2016
Election: Rajya Sabha seat
Electorate: 90 MLAs.
State: Haryana
Vacancies: 2 seats.
Contestants: Birender Singh (BS), a BJP candidate
Subhash Chandra - Independent; with BJP support.
RK Anand - Independent; Cong+INLD support.
Round 1: The Haryana Assembly has 90 members. BS got 40 votes, Anand got 21 votes and Chandra got 15 votes. 14 votes were rejected.
Round 2: With 14 votes rejected, BS needed only 26 to win. So, BS transferred the remaining 14 votes to Chandra as he was the second option marked by BJP MLAs. Chandra thus ended up with 29 votes. The third candidate, RK Anand, stayed put at 21 votes.
The Fairness: The EC gave a Violet Ink Pen and instructed all MLAs to use that one for voting. Every MLA would vote and pass on that pen for the next MLA to use it. The BJP MLAs used it. The INLD MLAs also used it. The last BJP MLA after casting his vote, changed the pen and passed on a black ink pen to the next in line Congress MLA. And that black ink pen was passed on by every Cong MLA to the next one. 14 passes in all. 14 votes in all. And all those 14 votes were declared invalid by the EC.
Subhash Chandra won. BJP won. Congress lost. INLD lost. Cong charged EC official of fraud. They asked how was the pen changed without the EC noticing it? Imagine a invalid ballot box being used under EC supervision and we all merrily vote.
That is the story of Subhash Chandra, ethics and also about our election commission.
794 bodies recovered. Thousands still unaccounted for. Tell us, what was their crime?
I am writing this from the Himalayas from a country responsible for only around 0.1% of global greenhouse-gas emissions. Nearly 46% of our land is covered by forests. Around 94% of our installed electricity capacity comes from hydropower. We are rapidly moving away from fossil-fuel vehicles too: EVs accounted for about 74% of Nepal’s four-wheeled passenger vehicle imports in 2025/26. We protect forests. We generate electricity from our rivers. We are embracing electric mobility at a pace few countries in the world have matched. Yet today, our people are digging through mud, searching rivers and waiting beside phones for the names of their loved ones.
The Bhote Koshi flash flood has shown us what it means to live beneath a rapidly changing cryosphere. Our glaciers are retreating, our frozen mountains are becoming increasingly unstable, and the rivers that generate our clean electricity can also carry destruction into communities below. We did not build our prosperity by burning generations of coal and oil. We contributed almost nothing to creating the climate crisis at this scale. But we are being forced to survive its consequences. The people whose bodies are being pulled from rivers did not cause this crisis. The families still waiting for thousands of missing people did not cause it. The children, farmers, workers and mountain communities who lost everything did not cause it.
So from the Himalayas, we ask the industrialised world: how many Himalayan bodies will be enough? How many mothers must wait for children who never return? How many villages must disappear before “climate justice” becomes more than a speech at another conference? Do not come to us only with sympathy after the bodies have been counted. Come with responsibility. Come with climate finance, adaptation, loss-and-damage support and the courage to cut emissions at the scale this emergency demands. We want climate justice. We want the right to survive in our own mountains. We want a world where being born in the Himalayas is not a death sentence for a crisis we did not create.
You and the whole BJP gang fought the election over RG Kar.
Now you are saying that your daughter was not r*ped, but k!lled.
Hope she is watching from heaven and seeing how her own mother twisted her truth for political benefit.
Over the last two decades, despite the quantum jump in the number of PhDs acquired by senior military officers, there has been an intellectual vacuum within the top echelons of India's military leadership: Air Vice Marshal Arjun Subramaniam (retd) @rhinohistorian
Instead of the garbage op-eds defending Tarun Tejpal, read this incredible piece of writing from the survivor. Shame on everyone who is defending a rapist (or feigning ignorance which is as good as defending).
