All of us, who work with kids, need to find kind, gentle ways to check in about food insecurity. These days, at the beginning of every appointment, I ask about whether the child ate that morning. If the answer is no, I find something for them to eat & ...

If we want our Autistic students to meet SMART goals, we need to set them up for success with SMART instruction. Smart instruction is Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time-bound.
Very high prevalence of suicidal ideation (~34%) & attempts (~24%) in #autistic people w/o intellectual disability, from meta-analysis by @Sarah_NottsUni et al.
Sadly not unexpected findings. Autistic people have been telling us this for years... https://t.co/vDbNrmgVV0

In honor of @judithheumann, I’m finally jumping back into the many disability memoir audiobooks I keep promising myself I’m going to finish. Starting with resuming listening to @SFdirewolf’s Year of the Tiger and wow is Alice Wong the coolest.
My heart is hurting today for the loss of @judithheumann. Judy is the epitome of greatness, and her work inspires me daily to never stop fighting for the rights of the disability community. Rest in power, Judy. You are loved by so many.
Thank you to everyone who has followed and supported Judy throughout her lifetime of advocacy. May her memory be for a blessing.

75% of my stipend goes to rental costs because there are so few residences in Ann Arbor that actually meet my combined access and transit needs that provide me the most basic of foundations to be a PhD student

99 degrees: “i’m only sweating because of the humidity”
20 degrees: “honestly if ya stand in the sun it’s not that bad”
40 degrees: driving with the windows down bc it’s finally “nice out”
It is known that high-quality intervention for children who may have autism is critical for improving outcomes.
Ensuring that these interventions can be tailored to a variety of environments (especially those of varying resources) is critical.

When Harriet Tubman was born, Thomas Jefferson was alive.
When Harriet Tubman died, Ronald Reagan was alive.
We are not as far removed from history as some would lead us to believe.
