세상의 무게가 어깨를 짓누르는 것 같을 때조차도 조금씩 삶을 즐기는 법을 배우고 있어요. 내 안의 어떤 부분이 싫더라도 나 자신을 사랑하는 법을 배우고 있죠. 다른 사람들이 내게 준 상처를 정당화할 이유를 찾지 않으려고 노력하고 있어요. 다른 사람들에게 모든 것을 잃고 나서 스스로를 추스르는 과정이에요. 때로는 나 자신을 사랑하는 것��으로도 충분하다는 걸 깨닫는 거죠. 사람들은 왔다가 가지만, 내 가장 오랜 동반자는 바로 나 자신이라는 걸 알아야 해요. 다른 사람들처럼 나 자신에게서 도망칠 수는 없어요. 그래서 내가 내린 선택 때문에 스스로를 미워하는 대신, 그 결과를 받아들이는 법을 천천히 배우고 있어요. 다른 사람들이 누구와 함께할지 선택하는 건 괜찮다는 걸, 그들의 선택이 아니라고 해서 괴로워할 필요는 없다는 걸 배우고 있어요. 혼자 밥을 먹어도 괜찮아요. 시시콜콜한 이야기를 나눌 사람이 없어도 괜찮아요. 혼자서도 괜찮다는 걸, 스스로를 지지하고 잘할 때 스스로 어깨를 토닥여주는 법을 배우고 있어요. 내가 통제할 수 없는 일 때문에 울지 않도록 스스로를 가르치고 있어요. 나는 나를 이용하고 버리는 사람들에게 휘둘리는 대신, 스스로를 고쳐나가는 법을 천천히 배우고 있다. 가짜 감정, 가짜 미소, 가짜 관계에 지쳐서, 다른 사람들이 나에게 어떤 감정을 느끼게 하는지에 더 신경 쓰게 되었다. 나는 건강한 관계를 맺을 자격이 있다. 혼자 있을 때조차도 행복할 자격이 있다. 무엇보다 중요한 건, 이것이 바로 있는 그대로의 나 자신을 받아들이는 과정이라는 것이다.
