What kind of an era are we living in?

If you raise your voice against a company, some agencies immediately warn you: “Don’t do it. You might lose business opportunities forever.”

If you express genuine concerns about the changing reality of your city, followers privately message you saying, “Please don’t be too honest on social media. People in powerful positions may target you. We don’t want to lose a voice like yours because you’re one of the few authentic ones left.”

If you ask for your rights or question something that deserves attention, sometimes the response is silence. Your concerns are ignored, your complaints are ghosted, and nobody wants to engage.

Why does it feel like everyone is afraid of something these days?

Afraid of speaking honestly.
Afraid of asking questions.
Afraid of disagreeing.
Afraid of standing for what they believe is right.

It makes me wonder: Is it really that difficult to do business while being authentic? Or are we living in a time where opportunities mostly go to those who master the art of sugarcoating, pleasing, and staying comfortably silent?

Maybe the bigger question is: When honesty starts feeling risky, what does that say about the society we’ve built?
