Wow what a brave girl taking on Godi media’s defense of Dharmendra Pradhan’s incompetence!
She is speaking with such immense clarity and maturity. Must watch!
Felt like sharing an old tweet:
If you want to visit a foreign country for the first time, visit Singapore. See how a great leader can develop a nation even without natural resources. Lee Kuan Yew was one of the greatest leaders the world has produced. Charlie Munger kept a bust of Lee Kuan Yew in his home - he had that much regard for him.
Singapore, with a per capita GDP of around $85,000 boasts one of the most powerful passports in the world.
I'll give you two examples from my recent visit to Singapore. Both involve taxi drivers, as they are easily accessible for tourists.
One driver is 34 years old and unmarried. Having seen high divorce rates, he decided to stay single. He works extremely hard, starting to drive at 5 a.m. and finishing only by 9 p.m. He earns about $8,000 a month.
He has travelled widely across the world - visiting Asian countries like Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, South Korea, and Japan innumerable times. He has been to America eight times and driven across the entire country. He has also travelled to Western Europe sixteen times. He works hard and parties hard.
Another driver works only eight hours a day because he values work-life balance. He earns about $4,000 a month, and his wife earns a similar amount. They have two college going sons -one studying in Australia and the other in Austria. The entire education expenses for both are covered by their savings.
Forget the taxi drivers -how many people in our upper middle class can even aspire to this kind of lifestyle?
Naidu ji, let’s try a thought experiment. Say your salary is 2 lakhs and your driver’s is 20,000. You announce a 50% increase for everybody. Your salary is now 3 lakhs and your driver’s is 30,000. The percentage or proportional increase is the same — but aren’t you much better off than your driver, than you used to be?
That’s what your fellow Southern CMs are concerned about. You don’t think there’s any difference between UP’s 80 MPs today versus Kerala’s 20 MPs, if it tomorrow becomes 120 vs 30? Some proportionate difference, huge difference in political weight — with 90 more UP MPs against 10 more Kerala MPs. Is that of no concern to you at all?

About the biggest favour you can do for me is to underestimate me. I’m always a little grateful when that happens. I’m smiling politely, but internally, I’m thanking you for the fuel.
NEW: Earlier this year, an obscure startup in Texas announced that it had received at least $100 mil from one of the richest men in Asia.
We dug into the backstory. We discovered a saga involving Donald Trump Jr., Russian oil, and an Indian billionaire family’s private zoo.
BJP is desperately trying to make India into a one party dictatorship.
Shiv Sena, NCP, AAP, BJD, TMC..
They are breaking up one political party after another using money power, bribery, threats of arrest, extortion. This is not just highly undemocratic but it is setting a new precedent for the future.
It is pretty much a guarantee now that the day BJP goes out of power in centre, they will also be broken up into multiple pieces.
You forget 90% of what you learn.
Books, podcasts, meetings—it all disappears in days.
But your brain isn’t the problem.
You just haven’t been taught how to use it.
Here are 12 tools to make anything stick:
This Indian guy from Hyderabad got rejected by 27 universities. Then he built the tool that 90% of AI research runs on. 🤯
His name is Soumith Chintala. Grew up with no computer at home. Used his neighbour's. Went to VIT Vellore. Not IIT. Not IIM.
Applied to grad schools in the US. Got rejected 27 times. Eventually made it to NYU where he started working under Yann LeCun one of the godfathers of deep learning.
Joined Meta's AI research lab. Built something called PyTorch a framework that lets researchers build AI models the way they actually think. Clean. Simple. Pythonic.
There was internal pushback. Google already had TensorFlow. Nobody thought Meta needed its own framework.
He shipped it anyway.
Today PyTorch powers almost every major AI breakthrough you've heard of. Tesla Autopilot. OpenAI's early models. Stability AI. 80-90% of all AI research papers use it.
He led it for 8 years. Personally answered thousands of community questions. Rose to VP at Meta. Then donated PyTorch to the Linux Foundation so no single company could control it.
DeepMind rejected him. Multiple times. His first job offer was a test engineer at Amazon.
He just left Meta after 11 years and joined Mira Murati's new startup as CTO.
From a kid in Hyderabad with no computer to the guy who built the backbone of modern AI.
27 rejections. One framework. Changed everything.
Yesterday, thousands of us made history. Our peaceful protest at Jantar Mantar showed the government a trailer of what cockroaches are capable of when we unite.
Most people who joined us yesterday had never participated in a protest before. But they felt emboldened by our collective presence to express their sheer anger and frustration at the education system. Change cannot happen if we don’t make our voices heard.
I want to thank each and every one of you who braved the hot summer sun, young kids and students included, and proved that a peaceful protest is our greatest strength. The government cannot touch a unified, peaceful movement. Us cockroaches don’t ever need to fear them.
But this doesn't end here. Dharmendra Pradhan has wronged an entire generation. If he is not removed or does not step down within the next 7 days, we will be forced to continue our protest on the ground.
I will address you all on an Instagram live later today. Stay tuned.
Isn't it shameful that the Education Minister of our country has such little confidence in his own department that he sends his daughter abroad for studies!
I think the government & its chamchas are making a mistake in telling the middle class that it’s fine to let the rupee collapse having said the opposite when the BJP was in opposition
Every time some stooge says something dismissive like this, public anger grows. We are not fools
Rahul Gandhi—BJP is Violent.
Modi (Stands Up)—Rahul Gandhi is calling the entire hindu religion violent.
Rahul Gandhi—Narendra Modi is not Hinduism, BJP is not Hinduism, RSS is not Hinduism.
Modi sat down!!😂😂
Last year Buffett wrote his final annual letter as CEO of Berkshire Hathaway. His final thoughts was not about investing but life. Sharing edited excerpts:
One perhaps self serving observation. I'm happy to say I feel better about the second half of my life than the first. My advice: Don't beat yourself up over past mistakes -learn at least a little from them and move on. It is never too late to improve. Get the right heroes and copy them. You can start with Tom Murphy; he was the best.
Remember Alfred Nobel, later of Nobel Prize fame, who - reportedly - read his own obituary that was mistakenly printed when his brother died and a newspaper got mixed up. He was horrified at what he read and realized he should change his behavior.
Don't count on a newsroom mix-up: Decide what you would like your obituary to say and live the life to deserve it.
Greatness does not come about through accumulating great amounts of money, great amounts of publicity or great power in government.
When you help someone in any of thousands of ways, you help the world. Kindness is costless but also priceless. Whether you are religious or not, it's hard to beat The Golden Rule as a guide to behavior.
I write this as one who has been thoughtless countless times and made many mistakes but also became very lucky in learning from some wonderful friends how to behave better (still a long way from perfect, however). Keep in mind that the cleaning lady is as much a human being as the Chairman.
Rs 10 lakh is about 10,500 dollars, roughly three months pay for a US bank teller, a job that needs a high school diploma. That funds a month across thirteen Indian cities for two.
A wagie here in India on a solid corporate salary saves two years for five days in Bangkok, then still ends up taking client calls from the hotel lobby because someone forgot to tell him about an "urgent deadline".
One of the great lessons from chess and life:
You cannot play a stronger next game unless you are willing to honestly examine where you went wrong in the last one.
