Trying to place the blame on landlords is the crux of the problem. Blame local policies that limit the supply, solve that issue and every landlord would love to build more units and then theyโll compete with each other on price more
@snmrrw Romaine lettuce production is heavily concentrated in a few places in the Southwest and itโs common to have E. coli related recalls. Try to find Gotham Greens which grows their lettuce in a greenhouse in Brooklyn.
@stellasplace1@Captain_C2@BEisenhart Yes an no. In a large part of the country existing homeowners fight tooth and nail to block new homes from being built. Of course thatโs not all boomers fault, plenty of Gen X and older Millenials are part of the problem too.
@stellasplace1@BEisenhart 1) Youโre thinking Gen Z, the youngest millenials would be late 20s to early 30s at this point
2) Many Millenials would have boomer parents
@lomharshni@PermCombLife@Diwakar_Knows@MahimaJalan2 It comes down to itโs just easier to accommodate existing staff vs brand new staff. At 2 months pregnant Iโm sure many women could just say nothing and just announce it after already working for a few weeks.
@_johnsonator I think a lot of this also reflects the quality of the infrastructure where you live? In most Northeastern cities people pay a premium to live near convenient transit. In a lot of Southern/Western cities transit simply isn't functional in a lot of places.
@PermCombLife@Diwakar_Knows@MahimaJalan2 For an existing long time employee it's realistic to decide how to allocate some of their responsibilities to other employees but when it's a brand new hire that does add complexity to train them for the role and to have other staff take on their work or have another temp worker
@PermCombLife@Diwakar_Knows@MahimaJalan2 6 months is doable for a large corporation or if national/state governments help out in providing the benefits but when we are talking about a smaller business maybe the break will need to be 2-3 months with some part time / remote work after that
@impuni@MahimaJalan2 In general I'd imagine anyone seeking a new job during pregnancy (or a spouse's pregnancy) either got laid off or their existing workplace was an extremely poor fit
@MahimaJalan2 From a societal standpoint the most effective way to handle this would be to just make paid family leave a government benefit. For the US at least it would be pretty trivial to either raise the retirement age or adjust payroll taxes to cover it through social security.
@trnidadscorpion@FrankGrimes_Jr@todayyearsold Convection ovens often do have an air fry mode but that specific mode of cooking just doesn't work as well in a full size oven as in a small countertop appliance. This particular task of melting chocolate over pretzels absolutely would be fine in a standard oven though.
@EddieLiftsFX@anymanfitness So from further researching it, looks like it's just a worst case scenario of how someone would customize a dirty soda, it's entirely possible that someone could pour so much syrup into a soda that it doesn't dissolve
@TerraDraca@GMShivers It's a steep increase from being $1 a decade ago (basically cheeseburgers were a loss leader for fast food giants) but it's $2.50-4 depending on location for a McDouble today, and with the app they offer a meal deal including fries, chicken nuggets, and a drink for $5
@DarthSquig@potatoslav I wonder if itโs an economics of scale issue but itโs even harder in the US and Instacart is somehow able to do lots of deliveries from Walmart and Aldi
@DarthSquig@potatoslav Hello Fresh definitely is a solid business but they kind of target a specific segment of the market, younger families sort of just learning to cook more than traditional supermarket orders
@DarthSquig@potatoslav In the US Amazon Prime does free grocery deliveries from Whole Foods and Walmart does it from their stores with Walmart+ and most other store partner with Instacart for deliveries including stores like Costco that otherwise require memberships
