We must not allow rulers to rule by law, we just want rule of law. Therefore reject 26 and 27 amendments as they have reversed the rule of law into rule by law. And this must start by resigning from assemblies.
No, sir. You’re not arresting a terrorist. You’re dragging away a sitting Member of the National Assembly. When elected representatives are treated like criminals, it’s not law enforcement, it’s the state’s contempt for democracy, the Constitution, and the people who elected them
I have personally never ever been close to Sohail Afridi. I have been nowhere near govt over the last 2.5 years either, directly or indirectly.
But I raise a voice for CM Afridi, Speaker Babar Swati, President Junaid Akbar; and many others, because they deserve it - because we are all in the same cause IK fights for - and it is only a reflection of the complete absence of the law in Pakistan that these individuals are detained. Remember, the CM, Speaker and Ministers are all part of the state as defined in our constitution.
However, individual voices are not enough. Everyone in the party has a responsibility to speak. And those in particular in positions of power in the govt, those holding office in the party, those close to the CM and Junaid, those thumping their chests a few days ago, hold greater responbility.
In everything that's happening today, the biggest challenge for PTI is not the lawlessness of the state. It is the fact that as a party we have descended into individuals looking out for themselves and speaking to the gallery.
This must change. It must change from the top. And the day it does is the day the tables start to turn.
