@jacksonhinkle China runs under an authoritarian system, the Communism is gone since the 80s. Concentrated power leads to surpressing others with violence. If you're skeptical, go there and openly criticizing government policies like you're in the US, you will find out real fast.
@thomo506@dominictsz Armatures move, these Chinese psychos. In America, when someone wants to take revenge on society, they bring AR-15 and large magazines to any local schools in their neighborhood, like what a good American psychos should do.
@dominictsz Someone definitely needs to share this kind of story back in sweet home Alabama. While China isn’t perfect, there’s a lot Americans could learn from other parts of the world that are good, if not better in some ways.
@jacksonhinkle Exactly the opposite, they ditched communism and turn capitalism under the ruling of Deng Xiao Ping. Without turning into capitalism, this won't happen, your iPhone won't happen either.
@jacksonhinkle China has VC and stock market. They're more capitalist than the US in many ways. It's still a dictator regime though, try cosplay Winnie the Pooh in Beijing you'll find out real fast.
@5littlebass@NIOGlobal Call me crazy, but I thought they kind of built fully automatic factories and only need very few human involvements. What is the massive hiring for?
@shaunrein The "orderly" society comes in the cost of tight government control. It is arguably effective on crime control, it is also arguably effective on political speech control, hence the mind control. Kind of a pick you poison scenario.
@leixing77@blazers12778 Well, look at Nio finally giving Li Auto a taste of real competition so much so that Li had to re-scramble its SKUs. Maybe Li should start bragging louder about how the i8 is apparently strong enough to yeet an 8-ton semi into the air, like that's totally not fake.
@dominictsz Bottle fillers rather common in a lot of airports in the U.S. Maybe culturally they don't drink hot water, so only cold water is provided. But hey, good luck finding a cup holder for that hot tea with the low air pressure in the cabin.
@_mm85 Isn't Denza a so-called premium brand, too. Yes Denza has a BYD daddy, but doesn't Nio also has Onvo and Firefly kids? It's all fabricated perception anyways.
