Writing a genome, quickly and at scale? 🧬
Incredibly excited to see this first part of my PhD work in the Chin lab out today @Nature: In a huge collaborative effort we developed continuous genome synthesis and methods to assemble megabase-scale human DNA. A🧵: 1/n
Excited to share - EcORep! Now you can simply electroporate a PCR product into E. coli and let the linear DNA replicate orthogonally in the cell. EcORep can be used to evolve proteins rapidly and continuously! https://t.co/jzIRnci3Jf
Very excited to see this out!! Had an incredible time working with @askarkleefeldt & @alexklein_ & super excited that we’ll be presenting our ideas on safeguarding emerging bioeconomies at the UN next week 🇺🇳🧬🌍
Very excited! Our policy piece on “Biosecurity-by-Design to Safeguard Emerging Bioeconomies” won this year’s Next Generation for Biosecurity Competition run by @NTI_WMD | bio! Have a look at the report – a great team effort with @g_dhaliwal1 and @alexklein_ 👇 1/n
We’ll be in Geneva next week at the Biological Weapons Convention Working Group Meeting and Meeting of States Parties. Fetch us on Dec 8, 2023 where we’ll be presenting our work at NTI bio’s AI x Bio side event! 10/n
Our 1st preprint!
We developed a genetic toolkit for E. coli that directly uses cheap DNA oligos to specify kb scale mutations. No PCR/cloning to delete genes!
The paper demonstrates benefits over λ Red & gets fancy w/ pooled mutant libraries. 1/15
