Some of you have forgotten that only three years ago you were perfectly capable of writing an essay, writing a eulogy, telling a bedtime story to a child, and it should worry you that powerful companies have convinced us we can’t do things we’ve been doing for 5,000 years.
I don’t want comfort or convenience. I want abundant wildlife, I want a planet covered in forests & greenery, I want breathable air, I want literate kids, I want a revival of reading for pleasure and the arts, I want a culture not in danger of being dismantled by the tech-addled
Never stop saying "dozen" and "half dozen". Never stop using the word you read in an old novella. Never stop using your regional jargon. Don't succumb to an internationalized English stripped of its whimsy and romanticism in the name of streamlining global commerce.
My mum didn’t own a smart phone or computer. Many of our elderly have worked & paid taxes all their lives, my mum definitely had. This is age discrimination, it’s the same with car parks. Why should the old be forced to buy phones they don’t want or can operate ?
Would you like an early Christmas present?
Would you like these pin badges?
All you have to do is RT this tweet & I will select a winner one week from today.
Good Luck.
@redheadranting Funnily enough I saw this for the 1st time recently. I was shocked, more so when I saw the mum sat at a bench outside! As a mum of 3 boys I've never been in the gents with them - they came in to my cubicle in the ladies when they were little.
@SketchesbyBoze Absolutely. Over the past 12 months I've seen how hobbies (reading, modelling, playing the guitar) have kept me and my 3 boys going through some tough times (and it's not over yet). My 12 yo told me last night that it was modeling that was keeping him going at the moment 😢
Hello!

@smithsmm We have some amazing books in our reading scheme... But in ks2 we rarely finish them. What's the point in reading the first few chapters and then abandoning it and moving on?
Reading for pleasure has fallen by 40 percent since 2000. This is not progress. You should read because it's good for your brain, your soul. You should read because our freedoms will not long endure in a post-literate world. Most of all, you should read because it's fun.
If I’m being honest, I’m feeling pretty crap about my small business.
It’s so bloody difficult at the moment with rising costs, US tariffs, Brexit nonsense and the threat of AI.
Please have a look at what I do and retweet to spread the word https://t.co/efvD9JdtEG
@BeckyMarie80 Really disappointing. The thing I lived about the books was the characters, Richard Osman is so good at the details which make you love the characters. Felt like the film missed it completely.
I know I keep banging on about my designs but it’s not easy being a small business at the moment.
Take a look at my wares and please retweet.

Thanks!
I totally support the National Year Of Reading. We desperately need a culture of reading for pleasure to replace the culture of constant tests in schools, backed by proper government funding. And we need STORYTIME to be part of the school day, every day!
