Had a great discussion with @RyanCMullally. Something that's great about Ryan is how he really cares about his interlocutor truly understanding his position. These days so many people just want to talk AT each other without really listening. But Ryan makes it obvious he wants to talk WITH you. If you're ever having trouble following something he's saying, just tell him, he's always happy to fill in the blanks so you can understand him going forward. Highly encourage everyone to watch this to get a sense of how to have productive discourse.

But yes I can mod, though he might not want me to cause I've been critical of him so he might think I'm biased (I'm not really, I help people on left and right with debate stuff). @AviBittMD might be willing though, he's probably closer to Ryan's view than yours, is a Trump voter, knows formal logic, etc.
@Vazaraka@PiscoLitty IDK why he'd have to talk about the contrapositive of P1 for you to tell whether the arg is valid. To see it's valid you could use a proof generator like https://t.co/TNudJw9uwM.
a great test of "would you have been chill with owning slaves, if you'd been born into a slave-owning family" is whether or not you're vegetarian today
Myself, Lance Bush, and @askyourself92 reviewed the recent debate on moral realism between Lance Bush and David Enoch. Premiering now, check it out! https://t.co/Hwg3XUm8JN
Lmao. Oh 1000000000%. Whenever retards end up being correct by fluke but were not empistemically justified in their claims at the time they made them, you can bet they'll do a victory lap of cringe. I call it GettIer lapping.
I think there's certain things people shouldn't be able to live down. Like if we get broad scale holocaust reform in our lifetimes (seems far off now but could actually happen quite quickly once cultivated meat scales, or could still happen in our lifetimes if it occurs later but we hit LEV) that they should never be able to live it down. I'll never forget who the holocaust supporters were and the vile things they said.
I've made this same general point to Andrew. Jay Dyer and Jimbob are both extremely trash debate-dodging cowards. And most likely hypocrites as well because things like cowardice and evasion of critics are not very masculine and I take it they promote some fairly conventional notion of masculinity. I think we should really normalize calling out clowns like that and I don't think it's a good look to not do it. Makes it seem like you think they're running decent arguments, not pushing bad norms like evading their strongest critics, etc. I would want my audience to clearly know that I can identify bad arguments and bad behaviour and will always call it out even when it comes from my own camp. I for instance wouldn't play coy if you asked me to denounce raw frutarian vegans, I'd just say those people are crazy retards.
Actually I understated it. My initial intuition was that I could do some good for little cost if enough people vote blue. But the chance of doing good just drops as more people vote blue. It seems like the only time it's worth voting blue is if the variance is really low and the mean blue probability is ~.5. Otherwise the expectation of my vote is either dying or making no difference. Even more so if I value my life above the life of the average person, which I do. If you look at the graph as if someone were shining a flashlight. The more you value yourself relative to the average person, the more perpendicular the flashlight would be to the lit surface. Ignore bad values in my AI graph, I'm just showing the consequences on either side. Even starting from 0 information and using principle of indifference and ignoring the fact that the variance cuts off at 0.08 (for some reason) when in fact the variance range is way higher, if I land smack in the center of this, I'm may still be in negative territory if I'm not weighing all lives equally. But not assuming variance cuts off at .08, principle of indifference leaves me in the red.
I mean, I've told you to not be so nice to sophist many times. It takes years of bad faith to come around to the AY debate approach if you're more agreeable. :p
i kid. Kinda. But I do feel your pain. You tried to be charitable, he abused it, and now he's gonna dodge you forever cause he knows you can beat him so you can never truly show just how bad it gets for him, the best you can do is point at a convo where you're too friendly so one has to be tracking decently to see how bad the pwnage was, whereas now that you know how greasy he is if you did a redo you'd press harder and the result would be a way more obvious own.
That said I still think overall it was a complete brutalization. It's very clear he's just making a claim of contradiction that he can't substantiate.
Funny cause @Timcast isn't familiar with @JayDyer's schtick but just sorta latches onto the contradiction thing and happens to punch Jay in the weakest part of his position. Jay is an absolute clown. He's been fleeing me for years and gets bitchslapped every time he talks to someone competent.
Me debating him years ago. He ends up saying there are cases of P∧¬P that aren't contradictory (lol) then fleeing the convo when I try to point out the fact that using words like "should" doesn't commit one to realism. I didn't really know much phil/debate at the time and still clowned him pretty bad, if we redid in 2026 the bloodbath level of be off the charts and so he'll never do it. He got pwned by like half-baked mid 20s Isaac: https://t.co/3KjQfWmZov
Me showing he doesn't understand internal critiques a bit later: https://t.co/dwVIltFcrU
@FrictionPhilo completely raping him (he loops on an already addressed point once stuck then flees the convo): https://t.co/0vYG5DEef4
Jay running from @AviBittMD (he now runs from all AY community members hahahaha): https://t.co/u5wDIpfXVG
Jay running from @RuxterL after a very quick bitchslap: https://t.co/5hoZnweW34
🤡🚨🤡🚨🤡🚨🤡🚨
Honestly if you take this guy seriously, that is one of the most hardcore clown alerts possible.
🤡🚨🤡🚨🤡🚨🤡🚨
Can we please all collectively mock this blazing retard and make him feel some shame for literally fleeing everyone who knows how to break his position for years on end? If you wanna watch me or any of the above people rape him, let it be know. I doubt he's capable of feeling shame but the more people who humiliate him for fleeing the better. I and probably all the others mentioned in this post are happy to debate this clown any time. Keep running, you little bitch.
People are mad this is getting made fun of and think those making fun are assholes. I'm vegan, if you put a V in there for vegan or an A for animal I'd still find it funny, and not cause I don't care about these groups. There's something funny about the combo of fulfilling the rightwing prophecy of an ever-expanding acronym (they've been calling this for at least a decade), trying so hard to be compassionate in the least meaningful way ever, and just the overall unsustainability of the thing.
I didn't actually watch the full convo, so perhaps I'm missing context but taking the clip at face value, this is 100000% the right norm to set. I say that while not liking many of @TheOmniLiberal's debate norms. If someone just wants to ramble and evade you should simply leave the convo and let them cry about it or tell them to wave when done rambling then mute them on your end and just refute their points/shoot the shit with your own audience till they're ready to stop being clowns then pick up at exactly where you left of and refuse to follow whatever new thread they established during the rambling dodgefest. There are other options but these are 2 I like.
Real high quality commentary there buddy. Care to discuss the animal holocaust live? I suspect you'll end up making a fool of yourself. What's true of animals that if true of humans would justify the same treatment?
