JUST FYI Jim Jones, the leader of the Peoples Temple, repeatedly staged fake assassination attempts on himself as a deliberate tactic to manipulate his cult followers. Jones used these staged events habitually to maintain a siege mentality. They included phony gunfire during services, claims of attacks by outsiders (government, media, defectors, etc.), and at least one incident where he simulated being shot using fake blood and holes in his shirt. He then disappeared briefly, to "heal" himself. Make of that what you will, but that sure sounds familiar.

“The Velveeta Vikings are on the march and POTUS has promised them a chance to pillage and plunder. They just don’t understand yet they are the ones who will be depleted of all they once cherished and valued. Trump built an army and they believe they are at war; a cult of conscripted idiots doing the bidding of billionaires who are stealing their futures, while they themselves hold open the door for the actual marauders. MAGA is giving away what they have lost the ability to appreciate, so numbed by the onslaught of online agitprop and a couple of generations of Fox News consumption. They live in towns full of self-reverential plastic patriotism and believe their way of life is under attack by everyone except for the folks that are actually doing the attacking. I’ve known Trump for decades and know how he feels about the kind of folks who now follow and pledge their fealty to him. He wouldn’t be caught dead in their company and prefers what he views are those as wealthy and insulated as he is; the Palm Beach private club crowd is who he considers his peers - not the folks he sees as marks. In his casino days, Trump would often stroll the floor to feed his narcissism. He got a high from how folks would turn and stare at him, but when some working class lady that he had bussed in from Pennsylvania, for the privilege of emptying her Social Security check into his slot machines (which had the worst payout ratios in Atlantic City) came towards him for a personal interaction, as they often did, he would have one of the security guards that always formed a phalanx around him quickly stiff arm her, brushing her aside before she could directly approach the boss. It was like some feudal lord afraid he would get fleas from the peasants as he ventured beyond the castle walls. It was no coincidence he named one of his casinos Trump Castle, or Trump Taj Mahal; he always saw himself as an emperor of sorts. Regal trash. He detested anything he viewed as blue collar or unattractive, saving his attention for the celebrities he could lure to his boxing matches and beauty pageants. Donald Trump is fine with Russia giving Iran intelligence and targeting data on American forces. He’s done nothing to stop them. He’s kneels in the blood of dead Americans while fumbling with Putin’s zipper. In related news, even the President can commit treason.
